Maps rework
A lot of maps will be scrapped and instead completely new maps that are large but segmented into smaller fights will be added.
You fight one small chessboard at a time and when the board is cleared you get to choose a path. You can see all the enemies in the next encounters so you can make wise decisions. The map layout has a degree of randomness to it and the encounters and obstacles you face are random each play-through as well. Making the game more re-playable.
New map structure:
Act 1
Boss Fight
Act 2 ,
Boss Fight
Act 3
Final Boss

Items
All items have been replaced.
A new equipment slot has been added: Each unit can equip a weapon and a armor piece which can increase the strength further. The weapons are now more unique, have different stats and might alter your play-style.
For Example:
Twin Strike: Hits the target twice every swing (Making strength more valuable)
Great Axe: Deals a lot of damage but has a 1 turn cooldown on its swing.
Double Edged Sword: Deals damage back to you each swing.
Expensive Sword: Has a negative effect which makes every time the unit moves cost gold.

Relics
Instead of a talent tree menu there are now relic items that can be found in the world.
The relics work as upgrades to some or all of your units giving them more strength, critical strike or health. Relics can also grant you a new player spell to cast. Merchants, a new unit, sells relics as well as weapons and potions.
Units
New chess piece behaviour:
Cannon can now rotate towards a target and when it fires it damages all targets in front of it.
Pawns can equip a spear which doubles their attack range.
Dragon eggs can now hatch after a few turns and turn into a Cobra unit.
