Dear all,
A quiet bug hidden in the tumblers have been found thanks to community feedback. One can imagine it to be in one of the the doors of that endless tunnel.
Yes, this bug has been around for a long time but due to its unique way of triggering - it has eluded my grasp.
Fixes
- For UNC only - if a structure is under repairs, the hint to prompt u to get it repaired will not appear. More improvements will come.
- Small fix: When a game is loaded, it loads all the logs as well. However, if u share ur saved game with another player who might hav a different resolution, the font size will be different. Now it's fixed to always follow the local font size.
- Fixed a small bug in mission 1 where a script will keep running even when it's no longer required to do so.
- Adjusted mission 22 to start victory evaluation earlier.
- Fixed a major bug mentioned above:
The bug only appears with the following sequence:
Save > Load > Save > Load (this load uses incorrect data)
1) All scripts have a progress indicator of where they're now. This progress is saved properly during the 1st save.
2) However, during the first load - the progress is read, adjusted into the script but lost because it's not read into the object. At this point, the game is still playable and will not exhibit any script-related bugs yet.
3) During a 2nd save, incorrect data is now being saved, ie, both positive and negative progress being 0.
4) During the 2nd load, the game is now bugged at this point. Scripts may appear to be restarted without reason even when the conditions to fulfil it was met long ago. Exactly like what had happened in mission 22.
Additional notes
It has come to my attention that some of our players have tried to do a 5+1 fleet attack on a single sector. For ATI card users, there's a grand limit particles that can be taken in with the current design even with batching and buckets.
Once that limit is breached, black triangles will start to appear and might even cause a crash due to data being read and erased at the same time.
We'll probably have to bring forward plans for a "dynamic LOD" system which will automatically cut down particles emitted during heavy duty periods. More to be announced in the future.
Conclusion
It's not a good feeling to find a bug that has beeng causing players problems. However, I try to be as transparent as possible - to show that I'm really working on the issues and doing my best.
Therefore, please help us by providing community feedback so that we can make Foresight a better game for you. :)
Thanks,
Foresight Team
