Dear all,
It has come to our attention that anti-virus software may interfere with your gaming experience when you're playing Foresight. This is largely because Foresight does a lot of log output - that's the only I/O other than loading resources, loading and saving of games which is done only at an appropriate period of time.
Write logs may trigger a live scan of contents written from 3rd party software that might not be recognized as safe from the anti-virus - this causes a lag in the gameplay and can potentially slow down the game badly depending on how the anti-virus scans live...
Ie, If I were to have 15 lines logged every second, there might - MIGHT - be a case where the anti-virus might spawn a thread to scan the modified log file 15 times, possibly concurrently.
Of course, we're not asking you to turn off your anti-virus - even for a short while, just to play Foresight. We could work out a flag that disables any form of logging. While this should alleviate the lag - it'll also cause a problem when you encounter a crash; other than a saved game, we'll have nothing else to work with.
As for graphical profiles - I'll strongly recommend - if you should encounter any problems - create a separate profle for Foresight.exe that allows the application to decide whether or not certain features are to be in the game.
Using the custom profile, you could by yourself troubleshoot what's causing the game to render erractically (by turning some options on your preferences, ie, anti-aliasing)
We do notice that some graphic cards are more accommodating than others and we definitely do NOT have the means to purchase every available video card in the market and have a crew of testers to test against every card.
Therefore, it'll be best if you could report an issue in the discussion page or send me an email directly to [email protected] describing the symptoms and nature of the problem.
Hope this announcement could shed some insights into why some machines seem to have a problem playing Foresight and some don't.
Have a great weekend ahead!
