Hello everyone,
A key part of fishing is going to the lake with friends and talking to each other, be it about different tactics for the session ahead or just having a good catch up whilst you wait for that bite.
One of the challenges of using the latest technology to bring fishing games to a whole new level is that the tools we use (namely the UE4 game engine) are still being developed. This means that while they bring exciting new opportunities in terms of game quality, they might sometimes not yet support some functionalities that are common in older technology.
Dovetail Games Fishing will naturally have native voice chat by the time it launches, but it will take a little while.
In the meantime, we have opened a 200-slot Mumble server for you.
WHAT IS MUMBLE?
Mumble is a voice over IP (VoIP) programme primarily designed for use by gamers. It’s audio chat.
The server we have created is entirely free to use for all our community members.
Our server offers chat rooms for the following languages:
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Polish
- Portuguese
- Russian
- Spanish
- Japanese
It also has 10 other languages rooms for people speaking any language not listed above.
Please note that while the usual DTG Fishing Hub Rules apply to Mumble, we will not be monitoring the chat rooms and cannot guarantee a PEGI 3 environment so user discretion is advised.
Please also bear in mind that you should not share your account password with ANYONE and that Dovetail Games employees will never request this information.
HOW DOES MUMBLE WORK?
Step 1 – Getting & Installing Mumble.
Visit the Mumble website and download the latest Stable Release (direct download link if you’re using Windows.
When the software has downloaded, run the executable and select client during the installation. Once it is installed it might be useful to place a shortcut on the desktop (if not done automatically) or even on the ‘Quick Launch' bar. This is entirely up to you.
Step 2 – Setting Up and Connecting to a Server.
When you first start the Mumble client, you will get asked to run a brief audio setup wizard.
This is the main Mumble window, which lists quite a few servers on one page, and lets you setup custom servers on the left hand side.
To access the Dovetail Games Fishing you will have to:
- Click on Server > Connect in the upper-left-hand corner menu.
- In the window that pops up, click Add New….
- In the Add Server window that pops up please input the following information: Label: Dovetail Games Fishing Address: 85.236.100.139 Port: 2037 Username: your username
- The server will then ask you for a password. The password is dtgfishing.
- Accept the server’s certificate.
- Once you’ve joined the server, right-click on your name and Register your user name to make sure nobody else uses it.
That’s it! The Dovetail Games Fishing server will now appear in your list of servers. All you have to do is pick a room with whomever you’re playing with and you’re good to go!
Let us know HERE if you have any questions. We've opened a new Multiplayer forum so be sure to drop by on your way to the virtual lake!
Enjoy,
Kevin
