This month's update focuses on improving gameplay and enhancing the environment of Dead Metro to present a richer survival experience in a post-apocalyptic world. We've made adjustments in several areas, including adding new resource-gathering locations for building player bases, introducing new item types, crafting tables, and implementing a new system. This system will become a standout feature of Dead Metro moving forward: the Weapon Customization System. Details about this new system can be found below.
Environment Update

After releasing the demo version of Dead Metro, we encountered significant challenges in presenting the city map scenes effectively. The main issue was how to create a city environment that feels realistic and immersive. Ideally, when looking out through a building, you should see other buildings stretching into the distance, showcasing the vastness of the city.

However, early in development, we faced severe performance issues. As a temporary solution, we added tall walls around the city map to block the player's view of areas beyond the walls.
Now, we’ve resolved this issue. We’ve implemented a new building design that can serve as a background without significantly impacting performance. While tall walls have been removed, smaller walls remain to support the narrative, which will be expanded in future updates.
Additionally, in the desert area, the previously tall walls have also been removed. We’ve replaced them with mountain and forest backdrops to emphasize the vastness of the map and enhance immersion in the desert environment.
New Item
We've introduced new items to enhance the diversity of loot and add more depth to the gameplay experience. These additions make it easier for players to gather essential resources for basic survival, ensuring a smoother start in the game.

Crafting Items and Materials
Players can now craft items and materials directly within their base using specialized crafting tables:
-
Furnace
A small furnace designed to smelt raw materials, creating components essential for crafting and building advanced items. -
Chemical Table
A station for mixing chemicals, allowing players to craft tranquilizers, medical supplies, and other chemical-based tools. -
Rain Collector
Accessing water has become more convenient with the introduction of the Rain Collector. This device collects rainwater, providing a steady supply of water. Players can refill bottles at any time, making it vital to carry water bottles, especially for long journeys. -
Granden Stove
We’ve added the Granden Stove, a grill designed for preparing meals served in plate form. This addition enhances the cooking experience, providing players with new ways to create and enjoy more refined dishes in Dead Metro.
Weapon Customization System
In previous updates, stealth gameplay was challenging. Even the slightest noise could attract infected to attack you, and firearms naturally produce loud sounds. With no weapon customization system in place, stealthy approaches were limited.

In this update, we’re introducing the Weapon Customization System, starting with the Silencer—an essential attachment for sneaking past and eliminating infected without drawing attention. When a silencer is equipped, firing your weapon in close proximity to infected no longer generates loud noises.
Silencer Types
Silencers are categorized by their compatibility with specific firearm types:
-
Pipe Silencer
Supports Submachine Guns (SMG) and Pistols. -
Oil Filter Silencer
Supports Assault Rifles (AR), Sniper Rifles (SR), and Designated Marksman Rifles (DMR). -
Gas Can Silencer
Supports Shotguns (SG).
This update expands stealth gameplay options, offering new strategies to tackle infected and survive more effectively.
Basic Tools
For players starting their journey in Dead Metro, early gameplay could feel tedious and frustrating due to the excessive time spent searching for tools to chop wood or dismantle cars for metal. To address this, we’ve introduced Basic Tools in this update:

Can Mace
A beginner tool for smashing cars to collect metal. It can be crafted from wood and cans found on the streets.
Stone Axe & Stone Pickaxe
Added to give players quick access to tools for chopping wood and mining metal.
Additionally, almost all melee weapons now double as tools for resource gathering, depending on their stats. Players can check an item's details to see if it has the following:
-
Wood Damage
Indicates the weapon or tool's capability to chop trees for gathering wood. -
Mining Damage
Reflects the ability of the weapon or tool to extract minerals or metal.
Ground Loot

Surviving the early stages of the game could be time-consuming when gathering materials for crafting tools and melee weapons. To streamline the process, we’ve increased the amount of loot available on the ground. This makes the early survival phase more manageable and less time-intensive.
Building Part Update

We’ve revamped the appearance of building structures to enhance base customization and make a building more visually appealing. While the older base structures conveyed a sense of realism by reflecting materials scavenged from the post-apocalyptic world, we believe that aesthetics and player satisfaction are equally important. This update adds more visually appealing designs for your bases.
Furniture

For players who enjoy decorating their bases, we’ve added new furniture to foster creativity and make your base feel more personal and vibrant.
Note
At this time, some furniture pieces may only serve as props for decorating your home. However, in the future, we plan to add functionality to them, such as tables that can hold decorative items.
Fix
Forest
In reality, deserts have very few trees, making it difficult to source materials for building shelters or crafting tools. When applying this environment to Dead Metro, it created accessibility issues for player resources. To address this, we’ve improved the desert map by adding trees. This change ensures players can gather the necessary materials more easily for crafting and base building, significantly enhancing gameplay.

Loot box
In the initial release of Dead Metro’s demo, finding resources was challenging due to unclear indicators of where to start searching. To resolve this, we’ve updated loot points to be more visible by introducing brightly colored loot boxes. These boxes are now easier to identify, making the search for resources less frustrating and more intuitive for players.

Tree-Cutting Mechanic
Trees in urban areas can now be cut down to gather wood for crafting tools and building bases. Beyond resource gathering, this mechanic offers strategic advantages. For example, if a tree blocks your line of sight while setting up an ambush in a parking lot, you can cut it down to clear a path and improve visibility.
