Possibly, part of the reason Lycor was able to face Kur was because he was somehow related to the Ents, the tree giants. The Ents accepted him as kin, a brother, and gifted him this blade after its creation, to help defeat Kur. A proof of the bond between them, they pacted in the old way. Sap and blood leaped from the king of the Ents and Lycor (respectively) after the wounds had been given for the pact, and bonded together, sap hardened, blood surged, and the blade grew from where it hit the ground. The Sundered Oathblade was proof of the combined strength of the Isles against the terror of Kur.
