Crate shipment ahoy! This time, coming to y'all packed full of new usability features for fiddly fingers, balance tweaks, and much-needed bug fixes, along with long-requested features such as Steam Cloud Saving and Brigs! Along for the ride is the kickoff of our Summer Event, complete with new terrifying foes, treasure, and special cosmetics!
Features
The Brig! - For all the scallywags and troublemakers out there, prepare to do time for your traitorous crimes in The Brig! The Captain (Host) of the ship can now lock any troublesome crew member in The Brig for a short period of time to show them a lesson in teamwork by utilizing the Player Info Window (Tab). Repeat offenders will spend a longer time in The Brig each time they are sent there, so better learn to behave or rot for your crimes.
Cloud Saving! - Now available is Steam Cloud Saving! This should now be enabled by default for all users, so you'll be able to take your character's stash of hats, knick knacks, items and depth records on the go!
New Fiddly Options! - New tweakable options are now available in the Main Menu, letting you optimize/customize your go-to settings for We Need To Go Deeper. Rebind your controls in full from the new Controls window, and adjust the Quality of your graphics from the Options window to better optimize Deeper for lower end machines or crank that anti-aliasing up a notch!
The Wrath of the Sun God Summer Event is now live!
Legends say every Summer Solstice, the mighty Sun God awakens, and with Him the many Caskets of his followers rise from the darkest parts of the Earth! These Caskets are filled with many riches, and some will contain one of 4 pieces of beautiful and rare headwear, given to the Sun God as tribute. But beware, for there's a price to pay for waking the dead.. and they don't easily part with their riches.
The Sun God will resume His slumber on July 8th.
Balance
- Large gold can now only be found in treasure chests/rubble piles.
- Eldritch Staff now has a unique Eldritch Spawn monster that is far weaker than the Abominations prior. Staff also received +10 damage boost.
- Cannon mini-gun now creates a distinct path line for each shot to better indicate their aim/direction.
- EMP base damage decreased by 1.
- EMP damage is reduced against bosses when there are fewer players.
- Elixirs are now much more likely to show up in caves and have functionally distinct spawn conditions in the dynamic difficulty system.
-Total minimum cave treasure spawns increased by 2, balanced with slightly reduced likelihood of spawning the largest gold pile from regular chests
Fixes
- The in-game chat paper strips now appear over the loadout screen and game over screen so that players can discuss loadout choices and chat at all times.
- Player names now load and display in the Customization Menu properly, so names should no longer need to be re-entered.
- Grabbing a second item when fully equipped should no longer jarringly swap your active item twice.
- Main power console switch should now be usable in caves but shouldn't be able to fire an EMP.
- Fixed newer cosmetics being unlocked by default by some users.
- EMP and Mini-Gun shots should now be able to damage Tortoises.
- Wrote a failsafe for a very rare bug where a player disconnecting before confirming that they had loaded the submarine interior could prevent interactable submarine elements from being spawned (this is extremely rare so please report cases if you still find them on the forums - you guys are great about this)
Other
- Treasure chests given a visual face-lift with new custom animations and assets! Treasure plundering should be much more satisfying.
- A Periscope visual inside the sub has been added for when players use the Periscope button to look outside (Q).
- The Requin now has a depth meter in the Navigation room.
- Loadout menu slot size increased to use entire space to set correct initial expectations.
