We are running a new PLAYTEST for "Varthos - Heir to the Throne," featuring an Early Access release candidate!
Crucial Notes:
The playtest is temporary and may be discontinued at any point, which will result in the loss of any progress made in this test version. We kindly ask you not to publish any material showing the new content until December 16th, when the Early Access goes live. Thanks a lot!
The primary focus this time is the new biome. While the desert setting was naturally rather empty and desolate, with this new setting (dense vegetation and higher monster density) we are actively testing and pushing performance boundaries.
The experience should feel different but equally rewarding. Mathematically, we have ensured that even with different monster densities, the total XP gain, amount of loot, and total monster hitpoints you have to nullify should roughly be equal to what you find in the desert maps. Keep in mind that in the final version of the game, the order in which you play the various biomes will be up to you.
Please provide feedback regarding gameplay, performance, the latest changes made (patch notes), and your expectations for the upcoming Early Access stage. You can either use the feedback form linked in the main menu, or hop on our Discord, where we've created a channel explicitly for Playtest feedback.🙏
🛠️ Preliminary Patch Notes
Added the second Biome including a new boss!
Movement skills (default key: Spacebar) such as Teleport,Dash and Roll will now override any other skill execution, making fights way more dynamic and improving their use as an escape mechanism
Fiery dash would sometimes not show coals for Clients
Server list now correctly updates the number of participating players and shows whether the game is still in the lobby and joinable or if it was started already
Clicking tabs when interacting with the stash found on runs should now trigger sound
There was an issue with the 5th unlocked tab for the stash found in Dungeons, making it unusable - this has been fixed.
Fixed a problem with the spawnsystem that would sometimes not trigger spawning a monster group until you triggered it again
Issue with some items loosing their requirements when placed in the lobby stash and picking them up in a dungeon stash - has been fixed
Changing/Reseting save slots would sometimes not reset everything, this should be resolved
In the main screen, you can't move items from your lobby stash to the character inventory space anymore unless you have a character selected
Improved AI behaviour: instead of endlessly following the player to perform a chosen attack, AI will now check if other, preferably ranged skills are off cooldown and available while chasing
More changes done to localization based on your feedback
