Shallow Space has been in development now for over a year and a half and in that time our dedicated scribe has been busy forging pungent fiction.
John Harper has written a licensed novel for Elite: Dangerous and certainly knows how to orchestrate fabulous fiction for sci-fi lovers to enjoy, but in the case of Shallow Space he's had to construct an entire framework with faction histories through to timeline and we are proud to say, he's risen to the task.
The first short story 'The Gift' is the first official tie in story to feature in the Shallow Space universe. Mercenary Marlon Kurtz has planned the biggest heist in the history of man kind on the most alien of planets, but first he must counter the might of the Terran Navy. The second short story is 'The Tale of Samuel Shallom' which is currently ongoing and is told through a vast array of different media:
Part 1 is told as a traditional short story, Shallom's successful initial piracy mission, little did he know the far reaching ramifications...
Part 2 is told in the form of several newspaper articles, building the atmosphere of both shallow space and the deep space colonies.
Part 3 is two full Naval reports describing the incident from the eye's of the TCN and Homeworld command - and outlining retaliatory action.
Part 4 is a series of comms intercepts from ESE (the Emporer's Special Envoy)
Part 5 is a voice acted diary of Samuel himself, acted out by John Harper.
As if that's not enough, explore the story category over on the blog to find Faction descriptions, short stories and a plethora of supporting information building the exciting and turbulent game-world of Shallow Space.
