Developers update 6

Welcome to our sixth developers update for Call to Arms! We will use these updates to keep you posted on the progress of the development and features.

Depth of field

The game engine supports depth of field now. It's a great feature to enhance the visuals of cutscenes and long distance views. From now on, the engine is able to collect scene depth information and that allows us to work on new features such as soft particles, ambient occlusion and much better water. So expect many cool visual upgrades soon!

Unicode

Finally, we added Unicode support to the engine! That means all non-latin chat symbols and nicknames will be displayed correctly. If you are a modder, make sure your localization files are all converted to UTF-8 without BOM.

Squad leaders

We have added new skins for infantry squad leaders. Now they differ from the regular soldiers and you can easily distinguish them from other squad members. Our next step will be to deliver different regular soldier faces to enhance visual variety on the battlefield.

Chatwheel

We added a chatwheel for notifications (hold “n”) and for chat messages (hold “z” or “shift + z”)
These messages allow you to quickly communicate with your team members and mark important locations or units. It helps to break language barriers and in the final version of Call to Arms, the chatwheel text notifications will also be automatically translated in the language of the receiver.
