Welcome to our eighteenth developers update for Call to Arms! We will use these updates to keep you posted on the progress of the development and features.
Today we are going to announce some exciting changes and plans we have for Call to Arms!
Firstly, we are sticking to our plans to "finish" up the game in October this year. However, we will not move out of Early Access at this stage. What we will do instead, is to polish up the game and release the content we have promised before. This means you will receive the full US campaign, 20 multiplayer maps and two factions with dozens of units and various gamemodes. Furthermore, we will launch a free2play edition of Call to Arms in October that includes the basic multiplayer, but with unit progression and no access to singleplayer or mods. This way, new players can try the game out before purchasing and they will be able to play with people who own the full game as well.
As announced before, we are also working on some Eastern European environment setting and we will expand the game by two minor factions that will be part of the GRM campaign DLC. (This DLC will be included in the Deluxe Edition for free). It will be available a few months after the October free2play release and is one of our measures to increase the longevity of the game.
Our full release is targeted at Q1 2017 with complete voice overs, localizations and new features and fixes. We think we need the extra time to give the game justice and to collect enough feedback from users. But again, we do this mostly to make this game bigger and better than we initially promised. Some new features that are coming soon are:
Weapon library
You will be able to check out all weapons and vehicles, as well as soldiers in the main menu with corresponding stats. This will help you to learn the game and to understands the pros and cons of your equipment. It's also a very nice way to check out on the details each weapon has.
Market
We will include a Steam item market into the game. This way you will be able to collect some free items (for instance in-game chat smilies) by playing the game and some of you might even earn some cash by trading these items in the Steam market. Expect more details to be available soon!
Choppers
Yes, they will be coming in October too. Hopefully we can show them off soon!
