We have been busy checking over data and your messages on the board, and without further ado here are the latest patch notes for Block N Load Build 659!
Optimization
As you may have seen throughout our Steam discussion forums, we’ve been looking for players to help us test Optimization changes. The tests have been fantastic, we thank you, and we’ve optimized in quite a few places to hopefully reduce:
- Freezing while loading lobbies and maps
- “GameWin32.exe” crashes
Bug Fixes
- Your Profile should now display your actual Win Rate instead of displaying 100% or 0%.
- When reconnecting to a game, Block Resources & Player Score no longer resets to default.
- Occasional double defeats when surrendering are now fixed.
Balancing
Sarge Stone
Sarge was something of a rocket-tastic spam-monkey, and it involved an Ammo Box being placed next to Sarge while he consistently fired at an enemy base eventually breaking through. We’ve toned it down a little. Sarge’s Satchel has also received a small increase to damage but now takes longer to place and destroy.
- Sarge’s Machine Gun bullet speed increased to 400 (from 150).
- Sarge’s Rocket Launcher range reduced to 70 (from 100).
- Sarge’s Rocket Launcher ammo pool reduced to 5, ammo restock rate slowed down to 0.2 (1 rocket takes 5s).
- Sarge’s Satchel build time set to 2s.
- Sarge’s Satchel hp set to 400 (4s defuse).
- Sarge’s Satchel hero & world damage increased to 200.
- Sarge’s Satchel fuse timer set to 15s (same as Large Bomb).
Cogwheel
Cog’s been bit of a multi-kill, doom-bringing monster robot, so we’ve eased down his passive to reduce his ability to stomp over everyone. Cogwheel’s Sprockets while looking great didn’t quite bring the power we wanted, as such his Mortar damage has received a sizeable damage buff - BOOM! However his radius has been reduced to improve the balance. Cogwheel also has had his engine tuned down and will move a little bit slower throughout the map.
- Cogwheel’s passive ability (Heavy Metal) heal bonus on hero loot pickups reduced to 25 (from 50)
- Cogwheel’s Sprocket (mortar) damage increased to 80, explosion radius reduced to 4.
- Cogwheel’s "force fall" (hold crouch mid-air to land quickly) disabled.
- Cogwheel’s sprint speed set to 5 (From 5.5).
Nigel
Nigel’s revolver has received a buff in bullet speed, the projectiles should travel much quicker to their target, Nigel has also had his Sprint Speed slightly nerfed.
- Nigel’s Revolver bullet speed increased to 400 (from 150).
- Nigel’s sprint speed set to 7 (From 7.5).
O.P.
Upon teleporting O.P. leaves behind his infamous Vanish Bomb, this Bomb has received a small buff to it’s world damage. Upon destruction of his Shrine a heal pickup will no longer drop. (Clue: it was never really meant to!)
- O.P.’s Vanish Bomb (left behind after teleporting via the active ability) world damage increased to 100, hero damage unchanged (100).
- O.P.’s Shrine no longer spawns a heal pickup on destruction.
Blocks
We’ve fine tuned some of our Blocks in-game, the major changes for this update are related to Respawn Points, Radars & Bombs.
- Wooden crate now costs 2 to place (salvage value 1).
- Bricks block now costs 10 to place (salvage value 5).
- Sandbag block now costs 15 to place (salvage value 7.5).
- Sandbag block now takes 1 second to place (Up from 0) - A common tactic is to sandbag yourself in while hitting an enemy cube, the time placement should reduce this tactic but also give Sandbags more meaning when placing them for defensive purposes. There was really no previous downside to sandbags over bricks, but now there is.
- Respawn Points now have escalating costs. (+500 per additional device) - When sneaking around the back of a base you can begin to fill it up with Respawns, with the cost stacking players will now have to be more tactical with their Respawn placements due to the increasing cost.
- Radar cost upped to 400 (from 200).
- Destroying enemy Heal stations spawn a medikit pickup. This pick up has the same regeneration effect as a health pickup from a Hero death, but does not work with Cogwheel's passive.
- Destroying enemy Ammo crates spawn an ammo pickup. This pick up is equal to 5 seconds of ammo resupply.
- Bomb health set to 400 (4s defuse).
- Bomb hero & world damage increased to 200.
- Bomb build time reduced to 3s.
- Bomb fuse timer set to 15s (same as Large Bomb).
- Large Bomb build time reduced to 4s.
- Large Bomb hero & world damage increased to 400, hooray for big bombs - BOOM, BOOM!
Health Pickups
Picking up health has been changed. A health pack from a fallen hero will now provide health over 5 seconds instead of instantly.
Swimming
Our heroes were something of a cross between Michael Phelps and Ariel as they could move faster in water than out of it, and well, we felt that was just silly.
- Sarge swim speed set to 1.75, swim sprint set to 3.5.
- Cogwheel swim speed set to 1.25, swim sprint set to 2.5.
- Hunter swim speed set to 1.75, swim sprint set to 3.5.
- O.P. swim speed set to 2.25, swim sprint set to 4.
- Tony swim speed set to 1.75, swim sprint set to 3.5.
- Eliza swim speed set to 1.75, swim sprint set to 3.5.
