Bonjouuuuuur~ ☀️
We recently held a live FAQ on our YouTube channel. If you couldn’t attend the event, we’ve put together some highlights for you! You can also watch the full QnA right over here!
Q: What inspired the game’s concept?
A: We wanted to blend our love for urban fantasy, witchcraft, emotions, and the magic of Paris. The game actually started as a visual novel, but we couldn’t resist adding more adventure and gameplay over time. Now it’s become something even bigger and more exciting than we first dreamed!
Q: How was the art style chosen?
A: Our art is a love letter to Studio Ghibli, anime, and French impressionism. We focused on bright colours, soft shapes, and symbolism tied to emotions. Fun fact! Even pointy shapes in our designs are not FULLY pointy and sharp!
Q: Will there be RPG elements?
A: Not a full RPG (yet!) — but yes, there are foundations being built that we hope to grow into deeper RPG mechanics in future projects. 🌱 Think of this game as the first step in a much larger universe!
Q: What values drive the studio?
A: Hope, kindness, diversity, and inclusion. 💕 Our stories are colorful because we want to inspire players and show that emotions, even sadness or anger, are valid and meaningful. The same positivity drives how we work together as a team.
Q: How is development going? Have there been major issues?
A: Development is moving full steam ahead! 🚀 Chapter 1 is finished, Chapter 2 is playable and being polished, and Chapter 3 is already in the works. The trickiest part so far has been designing the magical Heart Palace, which turned out to be bigger (and more beautiful!) than we first imagined. It slowed us down a little, but trust us, it’s worth it. ✨
Q: What platforms will the game release on?
A: You’ll be able to play on Steam and Nintendo Switch! 🎮 Future possibilities (like Switch 2 or physical editions) are definitely on the table, but those decisions will come later with our publisher. Stay tuned!
Q: Will the game be available in multiple languages?
A: Absolutely! 🌍 The Witch’s Bakery will be translated into English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, and Chinese.
Q: What is Silver Lining, and what’s their role?
A: Silver Lining is our publishing partner from the UK. They’re helping us with marketing, communication, and making sure the game gets released smoothly (think: working with first parties like Nintendo, planning launches, etc.). Plus, they’ve worked on amazing titles like Spirit of the North and Outbound. We couldn’t ask for a better team to support us!
Q: How did Kickstarter affect the project?
A: Kickstarter changed everything. 💜 Thanks to your support, we kept the studio alive, built our team, and officially launched production. Without our backers, this project simply wouldn’t exist, and we are forever grateful. We cannot wait to show you what's coming and see you fall in love with Lunne's story as much as we did!
Q: Will there be a cookbook?
A: YES! 🍰 We’re working with a French pastry chef to bring you recipes straight from the game, including baguettes, chocolatins, éclairs, and more. The digital cookbook will let you bake your way into Lunne’s world. Delicious magic awaits!
Q: Will there be an artbook?
A: Currently a work in progress! ✏️
Q: Are there Easter eggs in the game?
A: Oh yes. Everywhere. But within the legal limit! 🐣 Expect fun references, inside jokes, and nods to other games, all hidden throughout. Keep your eyes peeled!
We upload daily content about the development of The Witch’s Bakery on our Discord so feel free to join us! 😊
Until the next news… Stay magical! ✨
