Hello everyone! Ballistic Overkill is getting a new update today. The highlights are new skills for every class, capture the point game mode and performance upgrades that should make the game more stable and have less hiccups. As always, thank you for your support and feedback. If you have any issues regarding this new update, please share with us via e-mail ([email protected]) or forum (http://forum.aquiris.com.br/index.php?board=6.0). Enjoy the update and take a read at the release notes below!
Main Improvements
- Performance upgrade
- The game should be more stable now and have less or even no hiccups during a match. Please let us know in the forums if you have any problems running Ballistic Overkill in a machine that reaches (or exceeds) the minimum requirements.
- Resupply stations repositioning
- This is a test and isn’t final. We’re analysing the changes in the flow of the game with this new resupply distribution on the map. Are players camping? Are players feeling afraid of leaving the spawn point? This is the kind of things the we want to know. Further changes in this mechanics will happen in the future.
- New Mode - Capture Point
Berserker
- Class Traits and Skills
- New Skill - Hide in Plain Sight
- While sprinting, Berserker is invisible on the map.
- Skill - Bloodlust
- Damage amount stack increased from 3% to 4%
- New Skill - Hide in Plain Sight
Vanguard
In this patch, we’re nerfing the Vanguard a bit. He already has a very strong trait with his “on kill regeneration”. We feel that having Scavenger as well was one of the factors placing him above the other classes. We’re removing Scavenger as a trait and adding it as a Skill instead. That, coupled with a few other changes in his skills, should help bringing him to the same tier as other classes.
- Class Traits and Skills
- Trait - Scavenger removed
- New Skill - Scavenger
- When walking over a dead body, Vanguard recovers +50% of his max ammo and +1 grenade. Additionally, Vanguard gains +10% damage resistance.
- Skill - Carelessness removed
- New Skill - Modified DNA
- Vanguard gains +15% max health.
- Trait - Regeneration
- Life per second nerfed from 2.5% to 2.0%.
- Skill - Weapons Expert
- +5% damage resistance added
- Skill - Action Hero
- Accuracy while moving increased to 40% and damage resistance against explosions reduced to 30%.
- Weapon Balance
- Heavy Metal rate of fire and damage reduced slightly
Wraith
The main change in Wraith comes in the form of a nerf to the Lethal skill. We feel that the skill was too complete, allowing for players to pick it up without thinking. We removed the extra range from this skill and added it to a new skill. This should help creating different Wraith builds allowing more diversity.
- Class Traits and Skills
- New Skill - Combat Wraith
- Wraith gains +15% damage resistance, +10 meters to the range of all weapons and 5% sprinting speed.
- Skill - Lethal
- +10 meters to range of all weapons removed
- Skill - Elite Shooter
- Reload speed and rate of fire per kill increased to 10% (was 9%) and 5% (was 4%).
- New Skill - Combat Wraith
Shadow
- Class Traits and Skills
- New Skill - Vampire
- Shadow recovers +10% health with each melee strike. Additionally, backstabs recover 100% health.
- New Skill - Vampire
- Weapon Balance
- Switchblade rate of fire reduced slightly
Grenadier
While we feel that Grenadier should have more grenades than other classes, the extra grandes trait was facilitating grenade spam too much. To avoid this, we’ve changed it to a grenade regeneration trait. Grenadier also received a lot of indirect changes because of adjustments in his grenade launchers. Again, the goal with those changes is to make the grenadier not so spam friendly, and, at the same time, effective.
- Class Traits and Skills
- Trait - Trait - +2 Grenades removed
- Trait - Grenade Regeneration added
- When out of grenades, Grenadier recovers +1 grenade after 8 seconds. (Grenadier can never have more than 1 grenade at a time)
- New Skill - Restraint
- Grenadier gains +50% explosive damage, but loses -75% explosive range with grenades and grenade launchers.
- Weapon Balance
- Grenade launchers max damage reduced slightly, min damage increased and range decreased
- The max damage being reduced is not as bad as it sounds because of the direct hit fix (you can read more about that under Fixes). Overall, direct hits and close hits will be better than before, while medium range hits are drastically nerfed.
- Grenade launchers max damage reduced slightly, min damage increased and range decreased
Tank
- New Skill - Last Stand
- Tank resists death for 5 seconds.
Fixes
- All loadouts have been reset
- Some players were using weapons that they weren’t suppose to. To fix this (and avoid bugs related to the new skills) we’ve decided to reset the loadouts of all players on the first time they open the game.
- Server list now shows the ping in dedicated servers
- The reason that we don’t show ping for player created matches as well is that Steam doesn’t deliver precise information in this case. In player matches we show the country and region instead.
- Grenade launcher projectiles now deal max damage in direct hits
- Until now, grenade damage was calculated by the distance between the player and the explosion. The problem with this system is that the origin of a player is somewhere between his feet. That means that hitting a grenade in the head of a player would deal less damage than hitting close to that player’s feet. This is now solved and grenades deal max damage on direct hits. To compensate for that, the balance of grenade launchers was changed.
- Loadouts can now be reset without exiting the game
- Warning: there will be a big hiccup when doing this, but, as far as we know, there are no other setbacks.
- Projectiles from Grenade Launchers now deal damage even if the player that shot it is dead
- Grenades dealing damage to former teammates when switching teams fixed
- Several skill icons updated
- Capturable Point UI color fixed
- Server list now defaults to number of players
