Patch 1.1.6 - Linux support

Hey guys! Today we're launching a new update to Ballistic Overkill. This one is mostly focused on Linux support. The importance of this, and the reason why we choose to make this a priority, is that most dedicated servers run on linux. As far as we tested, linux players can play with mac and windows users without issues (yay!). This is an important step forward for betters servers in the future. In addition, we've also solved a few issues and made some small balance changes. You can check all of the changes below.

Main Improvements

  • Linux compatibility added in both client and server side
    • Ballistic Overkill is now 100% compatible with Linux. You can play normally and even create dedicated servers. Welcome Linux users!
    • Having Linux support will make the creation of dedicated servers significantly easier in the future, be it via official or third party servers.

  • Recoil System Overhaul

    • In order to fix a very old bug in the recoil of automatic weapons, the recoil system was reworked. The bug in question made so automatic weapons would swing down when you stopped firing. While good for burst fire, that kind of mechanic was unintuitive and annoying for regular automatic fire. This is now fixed
    • Recoil reduction skills were also fixed, and now work as intended. Until now, Recoil reduction was working only for regular recoil, ignoring up recoil (which is the most relevant part of our recoil system).

Fixes

  • Aiming Sensitivity Slider now affects only scoped weapons
  • Shotguns FOV change when returning from aiming smoothed out

Balance Changes

  • All shotguns range increased
  • Switchblade damage reduced slightly
