Patch 1.1.4 - Tank class and Balance Changes

New Class - Tank

Tank is our survival expert. He can take hits like no one else. Without further ado, here’s the breakdown of his traits, skills and weapons.

  • Class Traits and Skills

    • Trait - Regeneration and resistance
      • Huge health
      • Recovers 1% of max health per second

    • Skill - Well prepared

      • Tank receives +10% damage resistance, +15% headshot damage resistance and +20% explosive damage resistance.

    • Skill - Toughness

      • Tank gains +10% max health and +20% reload speed.

    • Skill - Provoke

      • When hit by enemy fire or grenades, Tank gains +15% damage and +30% accuracy for 5 seconds. Being hit while under the effect of Provoke refreshes the duration.

    • Skill - Blitzkrieg

      • While shooting, Tank gains +15% damage resistance and -10% movement speed. While not shooting, Tank gains +10% movement speed. This skill only works while using primary weapons.

    • Skill - Unstoppable Force

      • Tank gains +4% damage and +4% damage resistance. Additionally, Tank gains another stack of these buffs per kill. Caps at 3 kills (max 16% reload speed and 16% rate of fire).

  • Available Weapons

    • Primary
      • Commando (Assault Rifle)
      • Bruiser (LMG)
      • Brute (LMG)
      • Prybar (LMG)
      • Chainsaw (LMG)
      • Mongoose (Shotgun)

    • Secondary

      • Blackhawk (Pistol)
      • Mammoth (Shotgun Pistol)
      • Rhino (Shotgun Pistol)
      • Agent (Pistol)

Berserker

Berserker is a legit rusher with his high damage and movement speed (and we like it). However, we feel that his map invisibility might be a bit too much. To compensate for his lost trait, Berserker gains a few weapons, securing him the most varied arsenal in the game.

    Class Changes
    • Trait - Map invisibility when running removed

  • Weapon Distribution

    • Felon added as a primary weapon
      • Assault Rifle with higher DPS and movement speed, but lower range compared to other ARs

    • Whirlwind added as a secondary weapon

  • Weapon Balance

    • Anakonda recoil reduced
    • Supernova hip-fire accuracy drastically increased and damage reduced
    • Whirlwind and Quickfix movement speed reduced
    • Whirlwind and Quickfix clip size and reserve ammo increased

Vanguard

Vanguard is probably the most powerful class of Ballistic Overkill right now. While he’s designed to be an all around class, his healing abilities are being nerfed in this patch.

    Class Changes
    • Trait - Health Regeneration on Kill
      • Vanguard doesn’t recover 10% health instantly on kill anymore. Instead, every time you kill an enemy, Vanguard recovers 2.5% health per second for 4 seconds. Killing another enemy while this effect is active adds 4 more seconds to the duration

    • Skill - Regeneration

      • Makes Vanguard’s health regeneration trait become always active

  • Weapon Distribution

    • Executioner as a primary weapon
      • Average AR with good hip fire accuracy

    • Stalker as a primary weapon

      • Good accuracy + grenade launcher secondary function

    • Heavy Metal as a secondary weapon

      • Substituting the other pistols he’s losing. Very similar to Switchblade in terms of balance.

    • Commando, Blackhawk and Switchblade removed

  • Weapon Balance

    • Bonebreaker recoil reduced
    • Widower recoil when aiming reduced slightly

Wraith

Wraith has been performing his ranged stealth assassin role very well, specially with his new powerful skills from the new system. In this patch we’re slightly reducing his survivability because we feel we is performing a bit too well in close range.

    Class Changes
    • HP reduced to 150

  • Weapon Balance

    • All Sniper Rifles aiming sensitivity increased slightly
    • Twister and Agitator damage reduced slightly
    • Twister and Agitator movement speed while aiming reduce slightly
    • Hydra damage and range increased
    • Hydra recoil decreased
    • Deadeye and Judge rate of fire increased
    • Judge hip-fire accuracy increased

Shadow

Shadow has been in a decent place since his arrival. However, there’s a few things that we don’t like. He’s a bit too squishy and Scorpion seems to be dominating too much in the primary weapon category. To make things more competitive in this slot, all of his other primary weapons received small buffs, while Scorpion received a very small damage nerf.

    Class Changes
    • HP increased to 160

  • Weapon Distribution

    • Switchblade added as a primary weapon
    • Whirlwind removed

  • Weapon Balance

    • Cyclone and Hurricane clip size and reserve ammo increased
    • Typhoon damage increased slightly
    • Scorpion damage decreased slightly
    • Switchblade and Persuader max ammo increased

Grenadier

Grenadier’s arrival was a bit scary and resulted in lots of grenades spamming on small maps. After rebalancing his GLs and prioritizing on-hit explosions, the spamming reduced by a lot and he has found a better (while smaller) place in the game. In this patch we’re improving his skills to match his design and adjusting his GLs to make it a little more comfortable to play with him.

    Class Changes
    • Trait - Explosion Resistance added
      • +50% explosions resistance

    • Skill - Firearms Expert reworked

      • +10% damage, +10% rate of fire and +5 meters to range of all weapons

  • Weapon Balance

    • All Grenade Launchers reload time decreased
    • All Grenade Launchers reload time decreased
    • Destructor explosion range and projectile force increased slightly
    • One Shot damage on direct hits reduced
    • Terminator recoil increased
    • Sawblade hip-fire accuracy increased

Fixes and Changes

  • FOV and Aiming Sensitivity Sliders added to the Options Menu
  • Reset Loadouts button added to the Options Menu
    • Restarting the game is necessary for changes to take place

  • Aiming improved in both Toggle and Hold mode

    • Toggle now works instantly with semi-automatic rifles, even if the shooting animation is still running

  • Hold received several upgrades and is much more responsive.
  • All pistols crosshair changed
  • Reload blend animation fixed

    • With some weapons, the sprinting and reloading animations didn’t blend well into each other.

  • Voting for the same map that was last played disabled

    • We intend to test more with map drafts in the future, but, for now, this should encourage more map diversity.
