Patch Incoming - all servers offline until complete

Posted on Behalf of RosieRascal

I am rolling out the newest build that features the upgrade to UE4 engine version 4.11.2 this mornin. This requires much work to be done on the server level before release so expect an hour at minimum before they return. As already announced, all Workshop maps have been flagged incompatible until such time as we can get an upgraded HHour EditorApp into the hands of the mappers and they can migrate their maps.

The conversion to 4.11.2 allowed the team to fix all crash scenarios previously seen because of outdated partner interfaces in 4.8.3. It also addressed the bugs that were inherent to that engine version. There is one crash condition we are aware still exists and further work will be done on this. What happens is if a player presses an input key (any) while loading into the lobby screen it can setup a race condition in the code because no input is expected and cause the client to crash. This typically happens as players are pressing a button to talk to teammates in Team Speak. For now, avoid pressing any input keys while loading into the Lobby.

This patch includes many improvements to grapics rendering, new lighting on all but one of the stock maps and many improvements to the visuals. Parellel processing added and controlling assignment of cpu vs gpu specific tasks allowed the team to provide all maps in full production lighting for the first time without affecting previously seen FPS rates. All game modes now function as they should.

Some minor bug fixes were made as the team was working within specific areas of the code.

This should be considered first pass of the upgrade and we now need the H-Hour community to play and provide feedback, report bugs and give the servers the full monte of tests so we can bed down this huge change. You never know what can happen as multiplayer based games deal with differing hardware, operating system, internet speeds and ping so please report and give as many specifics as possible!

Special thanks to the devs and volunteers who worked so hard to get this done for us all. Love you guys and gals
