Patch Notes - Release 2.8.2.10

As usual with new features they should be considered “first pass”. Enhancements/modification in future patches may occur as sufficient feedback is received from the community. Post any improvement suggestions you might have so they can be considered.

We highly recommend players do one of the following after downloading the patch:

  • remove their Saved folder (Steam\steamapps\common\H-Hour Worlds Elite\HHourGame\Saved), OR
  • verify their local content on Steam (Library, right click on H-Hour, select Properties, Local Files Tab and select Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

Important Notes from Testing:

  • For keyboard/ mouse (kbm) and controller you can change sensitivity while in game now as long as you press the apply button to set the change (controller one is on next screen atm).
  • To select a Profile in the Input Menus, use the arrows in the menu until your selection is highlighted and then press the Apply button. Changes are not active until applied. The Profile will display in green when set properly.
  • If you are on a Profile other than the default (Conner) and want to change to another, you must first return to the default, press Apply and then you can select another Profile.
  • Sensitivity setting can be set from in game as long as you press Apply after making the changes. This relates to both controllers and kbm though the Apply button for controllers is on the Controller menu tab.
  • Those using emulation software for a PS4 controller already may encounter issues as they will have installed drivers or software that may conflict. PS4 DualShock is natively supported for Windows 10, this was confirmed in testing to be plug and play.
  • Emulator installed already – Turn off the software, start H-Hour and test to see if your controller is recognized. If not, uninstall the emulator software and retest.
  • Emulator Software off or uninstalled and controller does not respond – We had one incidence of this with Windows 8.1 – Install the latest version of ds4windows and set a new/default stock profile in that app ( do not use any old pre-mapped profiles), then join H-Hour and confirm it connects properly.

Security Enhancements:

  • Add “Binding Validation” checks at game launch for invalid binding assignments (such as multiple actions assigned to same keys) that may have been made outside of the game. For example, direct modification of Default or Saved Config Input INI files
  • If an Invalid configuration is identified, the user will be notified and the game will terminate. User must run Verify or delete Saved folder.
  • Added a very strict validation of core INI files at game launch. Any modification of INI files that should never be altered will result in a notification to the user and termination of the game. User must run Verify or delete Saved folder.

New Game Loading Intro Movie:

  • Replaced the existing UE logo clip with a shorter animation that includes a replacement official UE logo animation and SOF H-Hour EA logo that includes legal trademark branding of supporting technologies used by the game
  • For Legal reasons, the intro clip cannot be skipped (by clicking).

Major Changes to Input Framework for KBM & Controllers

NEW PERIPHERAL SUPPORT:

  • Integrated & enabled native Sony PS4 DualShock Controller Support
  • Enabled Steam Controller Support
  • Note: use of Sony PS3 Controllers are not supported by Epic nor Sony and cannot be enabled without the continued use of third-party tools outside of H-Hour

Options Input UI Global Enhancements:

  • Removed the “Drop Down” selection system for assigning KB/Controller bindings
  • Implemented visual “Feedback” system to user when modifying KB/Controller bindings
  • Improved key binding framework that saves/applies custom assignments to address numerous bugs with the previous framework
  • Redesigned Input Options layout for modifying settings of KBM/Controller peripherals
  • Separated Action and Axis binding display groups
  • Minor change to overall Options layout (indented item entries)

Options Input UI KBM Enhancements:

  • Created 3 selectable/non-customizable KBM Profiles (Conner (default), SouthPaw (Left Handed), AZERTY) as well as a “Custom” profile that can be based off of any preset profile and customized (use arrow to scroll and highlight your profile selection)
  • Entries under the “Custom” profile can be modified by selecting the current entry value and simply pressing the desired KB or Mouse button/key to be assigned to the entry (No more dropdown list)
  • Keys that are legally “Bound” to multiple actions are updated automatically when one is changed
  • Implemented a “duplicate assignment” detection system to prevent binding multiple actions to same keys, excludes duplicate detection of “Bound” actions. User is visually informed of duplicate values to be corrected using red feedback
  • Custom assignments cannot be saved when duplicate detections exist
  • Enabled ability to use “Modifier” keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) with key assignments when pressed together. Modifier keys will be ignored on actions bound to “Axis” actions, such as “Fire”
  • Added visibility of assigned modifier keys to an action assignment
  • Pressing ESC will cancel the modification
  • Input rate clamp added to restrict kbm users with high DPI mice to better match to controller Turn/Look rates

Options Input UI Controller Enhancements:

  • Separated “Joystick” configuration from Button/Axis configuration
  • Added ability to enable/disable controller vibration
  • Added ability to set Sensitivity value for each stick
  • Added ability to set Invert value for each stick’s Y (Up/Down) axis
  • Added ability to set Deadzone value for each stick (applies equally to both X and Y axis)
  • Added ability to set Acceleration value for each stick
  • Created 3 selectable/non-customizable Controller Profiles (Conner (default), SouthPaw (Left Handed), Lucky) as well as a “Custom” profile that can be based off of any preset profile and customized
  • Added same “Duplicate Detection” features for controller bindings as noted with KBM
  • Added same “Bound Key” features for controller bindings as noted with KBM (with exception to modifier keys of course)
  • Added same “Press desired key” drop down assignment replacement features as noted with KBM

Statistical Data Additions:

Added Team Kill stats in Scoreboard:

  • Round TK counts display in the in-game Score Menu
  • Round TK carry forward round to round until match end
  • A point deduction is recorded for each TK

Added Team Kill stat tracking:

  • Added TK player stats to steam
  • Profile now displays TK stats and calculates as part of overall stats (User and Leaderboard)
  • Steam Leaderboard reflects TK counts

Bug Fix – Improper KDR display in player profile:

  • Corrected Profile display logic to display the player’s calculated Kill:Death ratio in their KDR stats instead of their Win:Losses ratio
  • Changed the title from “Kill:Death Ratio” to “KDR” to meet space limitations

Added Suppression Game mode (Official maps only):

  • If opposing team is not eliminated by round end, the winner will be decided based off of the team with the highest number of living players
  • Ties are only possible if both teams have equivalent number of remaining players alive
  • This is its own game mode and does not replace the Elimination mode or “Round Winner” logic currently in other game modes.

HUD Changes:

  • Mild text drop shadow added to HUD Kill and Talking Player feeds
  • Kill and Talking feeds have a horizontal gradient background instead of a grey rectangle
  • Kill feed items now fade in to view simultaneously (and quicker) instead of at separately delayed times
  • Names of talking players are “right aligned” to be properly oriented with the new background

Implemented “Auto Spectate” after death:

When the player dies, after 7 seconds; they will automatically spectate the next living player

Reduced “look” speed when in air (jumping/falling):

If in air, turn/look rates are reduced, but not eliminated

Due to the different input nature of peripherals (Mouse/Controllers), speeds will not match identically, but the intention is to lower the play gap between these two devices

Reduced Strafe & Backward movement speed:

Minor reduction to Strafe (Left/Right movement) speed

Same reduction applied to moving backwards

Auto leave scope/binoculars when jumping:

When a player is in scope/binoculars and jumps (from crouch/standing), they will be automatically zoomed out one level

Known Issue: Players will be “zoomed out” in to Night Vision on maps where night vision is enabled. This will be addressed at a later time

Camera Shake system:

  • Added minor feedback through camera shake effects when firing weapons.
  • Weapons of different classes (Rifles, LMGs, SMGs, Pistols, Large Caliber Pistols, Shotguns) have varying shake effects
  • Added prominent screen shake when in vicinity of explosions such as grenades, C4 and PMN
  • Known issue: Bomb and destructibles (Bridge walkway explosion) do not feedback screen shake at this time.

Force Feedback system (Controllers Only):

  • Modified the Force Feedback (controller vibration) framework to better handle varying effects
  • Enabled Vibration Feedback when taking damage
  • When a grenade goes off near a player, the Damage FF profile is fired which results in a shorter vibration period

Bug Fixes:

Fixed “Door Closing” sound when certain SOF maps load

Mics randomly working in lobby, but not in game and vice-versa: (need public testing to confirm,-no issues experienced in testing)
