Patch Notes: Release 2.8.8.20

New patch released this morning. Make sure you receive the latest from Steam or the servers will give you a version mismatch warning. Restarting Steam or verifying your game cache will trigger the Update (right click on game, select Properties, go to Local Files tab and click on the Verify integrity of cache button).

Controller users:

There is a new feature for you that requires you delete your existing custom input.ini file before starting the game. Otherwise, your controller may behave oddly:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\H-Hour Worlds Elite\HHourGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input.INI

Dev Team News:

As always with new content, the dev team will be monitoring results of the patch to determine if anything needs to be urgently addressed (game changers). Our testers identified a few scenarios around the knockback feature that they felt would need community feedback so please let us know if you see any concerns. If nothing urgent comes up, the dev team will be taking a much deserved break to enjoy the holiday session with their family and friends. Development will restart after the New Year's holidays.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone from the team.

Patch Notes - Release 2.8.8.20

This patch includes RoadMap deliverables, a special request from the community for an additional controller option and some much desired bug fixes that were impacting gameplay. As always, new content is first pass and we will greatly appreciate all feedback the H-Hour community provides in helping the team fine tune this to everyone's liking.

The team is continuing to work in various areas of the game so we can provide a mix of graphical, animation and programming content. Here is the list!

New and Improved:

KnockBack animations

Added Front/Back Knock down animations for Standing/Crouch positions and build a randomizer for

When taking significant damage from explosions or shotguns the character will now be knocked down

Improved Textures for "Connor" Character

Model exported, fixes made to the model, and texturing redone on the new model for its Camos, sunglasses, helmets, gun holster, skin, eye lashes and hair to provide a better graphical appearance without increasing size map.

This is the beginning of a rework to our characters so the elements needed for the model in future are available and we are positioned for additional camos down the road.

Updated Game Loading Video

Based on community feedback, rework of loading video to add a new graphic, change music and reduce volume during the UE logo display

Community Request - Walk added as separate button on Controllers:

  • Added ability to limit max movement speed to "Walking" on Controllers
  • Added the button assignment "Walk" for controller input mappings. This will allow a player to press a configured button on their controller and limit their movement speed max to that of walking. This is the equivalent "Walk" action already available to Keyboard users.
  • Tuned the movement transition between walking->running depending on how far the movement stick is pressed on controllers (this is not related to the above "Walk" action).
  • NOTE: The new "Walk" action is not assigned to a controller button by default. Players wishing to make use of this key will need to use the Game Input Options screen and assign it by going to the "Custom" category, or customizing and existing default preset (like Connor, Lucky, or SouthPaw). Default layouts will require un-assigning an existing action to make the desired button available.

NOTE: IN ORDER TO USE THIS FEATURE, YOU MUST DELETE YOUR EXISTING CUSTOM INPUT.INI FILE BEFORE STARTING THE GAME:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\H-Hour Worlds Elite\HHourGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input.INI

Bug Fixes:

Ticket (006) Fix: To correct issues with shot discrepancy and false blood spatter effects

This is NOT a major weapon overhaul or pass. It does address some flaws that were identified in the firing/replication logic that is believed to be related to causes of blood splatter without damage and discrepancies with trajectories between the firing player, server, and remote players.

It is believed that the corrections in this logic may have a profound impact on the individualized performance of the weapons. Our analysis of the code indicates the underlying issues were causing many of the "customized" settings for each weapon to not be implemented as intended.

Ticket Fix (015): Crosshairs location is not consistent when moving between first/third person views

Logic was overhauled to have camera positioning consistent across all views and all stances. Shots now go to same spot no matter the view. Tracers spawn from rifle barrel as they should.

Ticket Fix (272): When changing POV while leaning, camera location is reset to the center (or non-leaning) location; requiring the user to have to leave and go back in to leaning.

Fix added to allow lean in various stances through all views so that the camera no longer "resets" location when changing POV.

Bug Fix (64): Corner Lean Glitch in First Person allows shots that should be blocked

Changes made to ensure players can no longer glitch views to get around shot blocked using lean.

NOTE: Shotguns have a wide spread so it is possible that some of the "pellets" can realistically pass the obstacle unobstructed.

Ticket Fix (266): Clicking on a UCR map entry does not start the rotation with the selected Map

Fixed so when Create a UCR, and selecting a random map from the list, the match begins on the map selected

Bug Fix (261): Slow Server Browser Display after Patch 2.8.6

Changes were made to move the call for the Server list so it happens on load of game and is assigned to a separate thread. This improves the speed and makes browser list available to players on entry to Server Browser screen.

Ticket Fix (270): Unable to cancel game start timer when a sufficient number of players "Unready"

New server variable introduced to allow operators to allow or deny the use of "Unready" in the Lobby from the defaultgame.ini file. Unready logic also tweaked to allow varying player numbers in the determination of an unready condition. If a player know selects Unready, the countdown will stop and a message will display.

Ticket Fix (268): Right click spamming will open numerous context windows in the Server Browser

Changes made to prevent spamming of context windows in Server Browser. Now only one context window will be displayed at a time

Ticket Fix (267): Grenade Arc remains visible when you die

Grenade Arc no longer remains visible on death (it should return to being hidden).

NOTE: Fix is not intended to address anomalies with nade arcs for UCR hosts

Ticket Fix (274): Taskbar icon for game is generic windows default

Added logic to display H-Hour icon on taskbar versus the stock Windows icon
