As many of you will know Unity released a new version (5.0) recently. We have been looking at all of the changes in the new version and have concluded that we will migrate Perfect Golf to U5 prior to the retail release. One of the main reasons for this is the significant improvements offered in the realm of planting trees and grasses and the automatic level of detail that comes with the speedtree trees. There are of course many other reasons for us to upgrade not the least of which is that the new version of U5 free will allow asset bundles to be created meaning people with the free version of Unity will now be able to make course files playable with PG.
Tomorrow we will be releasing a new build to everyone (more details in a separate post) which will baring any major hiccups be our last U4 release of Perfect Golf. We have already begun the transition to U5 and so it will probably be a few weeks before our next release which will basically be a port of the U4 release to U5.
After that we will be focusing on a bug fix release to fix a lot of the smaller issues that have arisen over the last couple of months. This release will not contain any significant new functionality but will seek to improve the experience for everyone.
After that we have a few more functionality releases which will address those items we believe need to be in a retail release and items we have promised will be addressed (Read Offline play, controller support etc).
More of what exactly will be in those releases once we have got our U5 upgrade done.
Many thanks for your continued support during Early Access.
