Reflections of a Housekeeper, by Angela Burnes, week 3

There are many beautiful things in the apartment. I especially like the small bronze statues. At least I think they're bronze. One depicts a man struggling to hold back an angry dog. Does it refer to an established myth, or is the subject something more abstract? Either way, walking past, I feel the aggression in their straining muscles and in their savage expressions.

Maybe it says something about trying to control the primal forces for our own ends. Perhaps the dog is just a stupid beast, easily dominated, and the man wields its power to his advantage against other men or women. I don't want to think about that. Beautiful things act on us in unexpected ways.
