Reflections of a Housekeeper, by Angela Burnes, week 8

Back in the States we wouldn’t have dreamed this was possible: My little brother’s face on the front of a magazine! David has always been an adventurer. I moved to Anchuria looking for a better place. I believed in the ideals of the country. David was just restless, so he followed me. For a while, all he did was party, which was a beautiful kind of freedom in its own way. I felt happy watching him throw himself into the scene; to see him grooving with the people here. But after the coup, it was David who felt the pull of the anti-government movement swelling up around us. It called to him in some way.

At first, I didn’t take his rebellion seriously. David never read any books. He has no idea who Marx or Engels are, let alone Adorno or Habermas. But he admires Che Guevara. All these people, leaders driven by the circumstances of their lives, their experience, they reach out with whatever they’ve got, some ratio of intellect and charisma. Seeing his own face on the cover of El Tiempo, David must be glowing.

I know just enough Spanish to understand the caption: "Enemy of the State.”

What has my brother done? I can't read the article. Should I ask Señor Ortega to translate it for me? I don’t even have a way to contact David.
