Crea Chronicle - 7/12/14

We know everyone is anxiously awaiting the big update, and fear not, it’s not too far off now! Jasson is working hard to get it finished and out to the players. Currently, we’d estimate an omega build in a couple more weeks, subject of course to things continuing to go smoothly and nothing exploding. In the meantime, let’s take a look at more of the awesome features coming!

One of the things most often heard in this genre, is that mining feels tedious, or slow. While resource gathering is the backbone of games that need crafting, we want to improve the feeling that you’re spending too much time on it. One of our answers to this is a new tool skill which will allow you to mine in 2 x 2 sections!

We’ve been taking a very close look at combat for this update, and we will be bringing in some very meaningful and impactful changes to the way you fight in Crea. Up till now, everything has been very casual, you get hit, but you have HP regen, along with healing spells. To enrich the feeling of fighting, getting hit will now debuff your character, stacking until you are reduced to 70% of your full HP. This will remain until you visit a way crystal, or use a consumable item. This new combat mechanic will tie in with the introduction of dodge rolls and blocking, allowing you to counter being hit and avoid the debuff. Fear not, casual players! For those who want to keep natural HP regen, and not suffer the debuff, we will be introducing the easy/casual game mode, that will allow you to keep the more relaxed experience.

Here is an early look at dodge rolls, with silly placeholder animations:

We do want to give the community a heads up that this game changing update will require both a character and world wipe. This isn’t something that will be needed often, or done lightly, but this time there are extensive changes coming in where we couldn’t save the old worlds and characters. Feel free to back up your files now if you want them saved. This update will be well worth the restart!

Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you next time for the Crea Chronicle!
