Hey, everyone! It's Ryan, creator of Wicked Seed.
It seemed like I blinked and November was over, but I hit an exciting milestone this month: completing all the game's levels and starting on the final boss fight!
Spoiler Warning
I'll be discussing new features and additions to the game, but nothing story related.
Please remember Wicked Seed is still in active development and any current or planned feature could be changed.
What I've Been Working On
The first third or so of November was spent on marketing stuff: capturing new gameplay footage, putting together a new trailer, and updating the demo to have it more representative of the game as it exists today.
Updated the Steam page with some new screenshots and videos
Reached out to some content creators and news outlets about the updates and new demo
After the marketing stuff, the remainder of the month was spent on adding new content to the game.
Added the remaining 4 weapons. So now the game has all 12 weapons fully functional
Made some more adjustments to enemy behavior based on difficulty
Added Ella's final skill
Improved door opening so it should always open away from Ella to reduce jarring clipping issues
Finished the final two areas of the game
Started work on the final boss fight
As I was going through my list of what I've been doing, most of the work was in those two new areas, but a lot of the other work was done polishing existing areas (not in the demo) or adding features to areas not shown in the trailer and realized it may be too spoiler-y to divulge here.
I'm really excited to be working on the final boss and I am, obviously, very close to finishing the game and having it playable from start to finish. Going into December I'll be finishing the final boss fight, working on the ending, and then begins the final testing and polishing phase. I'll be play testing every day and looking for any way to improve on the game.
I have a big backlog of things I'd like to improve during this time, but if you have any suggestions feel free to leave them here or over on the discussions board.
Here's a look at a new costume: Monarch
See you next month for the final progress update!
