Alongside the launch of our Kickstarter campaign, we’re thrilled to release a massive update to the Our Freedom Demo!
We’ve completely reworked early-game survival, expanded village management with new production chains, added military squad recruitment, and overhauled character progression.
Here is a breakdown of everything new you can play in the demo right now:
Military Squads & The Barracks
Take control of your defense and train your settlers for battle!
• The Barracks: Construct a dedicated military building to train village defenders.
• Squad Formation: Assemble villagers into tactical squads to guard your settlement or accompany you on dangerous expeditions.
• Reworked Death Mechanics: A fairer and more immersive respawn and defeat system.
New Production Chains: Bakeries, Apiaries & Herbalism
Bring life and self-sustainability to your medieval village with expanded profession chains:
• Milling & Baking: Build the Bakery, assign a Miller to grind grain into flour, and have your Baker supply fresh bread to keep morale high.
• Beekeeping & Wax: Set up Beehives to harvest wild honey and craft wax Candles for cozy lighting.
• Herbalist Table & Foraging: Forage wild herbs and plants across the wilderness to craft remedies and potions at the new Herbalist workstation.
Survival, Gathering & Hand Crafting
Early-game progression is now significantly smoother and more tactile:
• Crafting on the Go: Open the new hand-crafting menu anywhere without needing a workbench for simple crafts.
• Stone Tier Tools & Mining: Craft pickaxes to mine raw stone and shape essential stone tools.
• Foraging: Search wild bushes for berries, fibers, and crafting components.
• Blacksmithing & Building Upgrades: More intuitive crafting flow and smoother building placement.
Character Progressionn (Leveling Up) & UI Redesign
• Skill & Stat Progression: Earn experience from gathering, fighting, and crafting to level up William and specialize your playstyle.
• Settlement UI Overhaul: A clean interface for managing your village, tracking inventory, and assigning villager jobs.
Immersion Polish
• Detailed Villagers: Enhanced visual models, nuanced daily routines, and richer animations.
