Update & Please Read This Before Pre-Ordering

Hello Awesome Folks!

We have just updated FaceRig once again.

With the risk of sounding like a broken record: before purchasing, please remember that FaceRig is at this time in Beta state. It is fun and functional (mostly), but it is still in development. Read this announcement for more info about what that means and a link to the EULA.

Change log 0.70b (build 275):

* minor tweaking of the FaceRig Virtual Cam. CPU usage should be significantly lower on software that uses this camera.
* fixed deadlock when exiting FaceRig (should have happened only if changing cameras)
* fixed loopback toggle off issue (the app was looping through last recorded second)
* fixed lowering pitch issue (audio was muted for lower values)
* minor tweak regarding robotization audio effect present with pitch audio effect
* memory optimization on Load Video feature
* default output audio device is automatically added to device list (even though normally it can be filtered by name and not make it in the device list)
* added Performance tab in General Options Dialog for application performance tweaking. This allows to set loop update rate for the main app (affecting rendering), face tracker (affecting lag on tracking) and lipsync (affecting visemes). Tweaking these values will allow lowering CPU usage.
* fixed inexpressive eyebrows issue (no frowning).
* fixed open file issue (files in Windows 7 libraries and Desktop would not open)
* fixed tracking freeze issue
* fixed Lord Burgor not loading on different Windows regions
* minor lighting fix in Fluffo's Apartment
* added community avatars and props documentation in FaceRig/Tools/Docs/
* added a simple audio device lister in FaceRig/Tools/AudioDeviceLister/. This is a debug tool that would help us resolve any issue regarding audio input devices not being detected by FaceRig.

Also for those of you who want to keep using the previous FaceRig version (not recommended, unless the new version broke something for you) here are the needed steps:
1. Open Steam Client. Go to Library -> Software
2. Right mouse click on FaceRig -> Properties
3. Go to BETAS tab, click in the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" drop down, select "previous version"
4. Close window

Side note about our Website.

The intense traffic on facerig.com has brought the site to its knees again and again ever since we went public with the Beta. Right now it should be okay, but if this ever happens again we will put up is a simple html page with a few links to the Steam page, Steam forums, and contact info for the Indiegogo backers.

Fortunately the facerig.com website situation is in no way affecting using or downloading FaceRig, since Facerig is on Steam.

Custom Texturing now available for all avatars!

Here is the data pack that allows you to edit the base diffuse textures for all bundled avatars (and some of the props too). Now you can beautify (or deface) them at your leisure :).

Please read the pdf inside about how to use them (It should be pretty simple: just edit them and place them in a certain folder - written in the pdf - and then when you start FaceRig the edited ones will be used instead of the stock ones).

What is also cool is that you don't even have to exit FaceRig to update your progress while you are editing them. Just save the tga from your graphic editing program directly in that custom folder, alt-tab to FaceRig, reload that avatar and the latest brush-strokes will be instantly visible :).

Happy painting :)

PS: Yes you can edit the color masks for extra custom patterns the same way too.

Best regards,
The FaceRig Team
