Hello Awesome People!
FaceRig v0.914b (build 368 - Dec 04 2014) went live on the "nextversion" BETA branch earlier today. It brings the 64 bit compatible FaceRig Virtual Webcam (now works with 64 bit applications such as Obs64 -yaay! - though keep in mind that you will need to restart all webcam using applications after installing this update, or else they won't detect the new 64 bit Virtual Webcam). Also an improved FaceRig program launcher and a few other goodies.
The FaceRig version that was present on the "nextversion" branch until now (0.905b) has been promoted to the official branch (and is now wide-scale deployed).
There are no new avatars in this particular update, but we do have (not one or two but) three free avatars planned for release next week. Yes Santa is one of them, but we won't post pictures just yet as we are still tweaking his beard :).
Now to the change-log:
v0.914b (build 368 - Dec 04 2014) - nextversion branch
Change log
- updated community content import script. Some textures didn't receive needed suffix.
- added the option to configure the refresh rate of the currently used webcam. See General Options > Devices tab
- fixed right side menu issue. There were some reports that the right side menu did not work at all. We have found this issue in a single scenario, the task bar set to the right of desktop. This generated other problems that are now solved with this update.
- fixed tracker source / karaoke feed input control issue generated by moving the task-bar to a position other than the bottom of the desktop.
- updated the FaceRig Launcher:
- allows to launch FaceRig with either the default frame grabber or the legacy one
- allows to launch FaceRig with DX9 or DX11 (mind that DX11 is still experimental)
- allows you to choose resolution and refresh rate for the camera set as default
- allows to choose Shadow Map Texture quality (default set to High)
- (DX11) added screenshot support
- (DX11) broadcasting and video source feed support
- (DX11) some shader tweaking for a better look
- the FaceRig Virtual Cam now has two versions: 32bit and 64bit. This implies that the virtual camera now also works on 64bit applications. Make sure you restart any application that uses the virtual webcam after this update.
- added FaceRig Launcher as launch option from Steam
Dx11 support while still experimental should provide a noticeable performance boost in regard to CPU occupancy. So should the 64 bit Virtual Webcam filter, albeit not as much as using Dx11.
Remember these are for now only on the "nextversion" experimental branch and we do need your help testing them.
How to get this "nextversion" :
- Open Steam Client. Go to Library -> Software
- Right mouse click on FaceRig -> Properties
- Go to BETAS tab, click in the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" drop down, select "nextversion"
- Close window. The FaceRig program will update to the "nextversion" branch.
Note that if Steam does not let you pick another beta branch from the drop down menu, that means that the program is already running, or an update is currently under-way.
On a side note: we have tested the Dx9 version of FaceRig with new Steam Broadcast and it seems to work just fine :). However this also streams out the interface and the "real feed" pip, so remember the " hide interface" option :).
Let us know you how you find the new "nextversion" update on the forum or in the comments below :) .
Edit : virtual webcam broadcasting is still problematic on Dx11 in 0.914b. We will address this in the upcoming version.
We wish you all the best,
The FaceRig Team
