Hello Awesome Folks!
Before proceeding to the latest change-log, let us remind the new people that FaceRig is at this time still in development. It is fun and functional (mostly), but it still has bugs and occasional crashes. Read this announcement for more info about what that means and a link to the EULA before pre-ordering FaceRig. Also please look at the minimal requirements and remember that for now it is Windows-only.
We've done quite a bit of updating on the "nextversion" beta branch in the last few days but we didn't spam the announcements section with it.
Here are change-logs from the last 2 updates:
Change log FaceRig v0.77b (build 304 Holotech Studios - Oct 1 2014) - "nextversion" branch
- added "Reset Avatar on Tracking Off" in the special actions tab of the Avatar Customization dialog. What it does : when it is unchecked and you turn off the tracking, the avatar remains in the last tracked pose, so you can fine tune it with pupeteering controls and take awesome screenshots. If it is checked, it resets to the default character idle pose (as in previous versions).
- added shortcuts to quick-save and quick load avatar-makeup-background presets. You have 10 quick save slots. Use ctrl + shift + [0 .. 9] key to save current preset to slots 0 to 9, and use ctrl + [0 .. 9] to load a saved preset. There is also a keyboard hook that allows users to change avatars and backgrounds while focused on other applications (it will not save presets unless you are focused on FaceRig though). This will allow you to act out dialogues between different characters, in different backgrounds, even while in another application.
- solved same name on multiple webcams issue. When selecting one of multiple same name cameras, the app would have selected the first one.
- when resetting the tracker, the time allotted to you to take the neutral expression changed to 1.5 seconds from 3.0.
- added the first iteration of the FaceRig launcher. If you want to see it you'll have to start it by hand for now as it is not yet set as default when launching FaceRig from the Steam interface. We will change this later after it has been tested some more. If you are willing to test out the launcher, it resides in /SteamApps/common/FaceRig/Bin/ (Launcher.exe). The role of the launcher is to enable you to change configurations before launching the application and to provide a news feed from facerig.com (not yet implemented). All options saved by the auto-save feature are also configurable in the launcher (except the screenshot folder):
- resolution
- input/output devices
- silence threshold / sound delay
- default avatar/makeup/background
- performance options
- all interface options: use tracking, use lipsync, look at camera, etc.
- starting FaceRig with alternate framegrabber
v0.75b (build 298) - Sep 25'th 2014 - 'nextversion' branch
Change log:
- added loading screen
- autosave feature second iteration. Now saves:
- performance values
- audio input threshold and delay
- current webcam, audio input device and audio output device
- solved background customization reset to default issue. Lights would not reset to their default positions and orientations
- added Pixelated Sunglasses prop
- support for drawing blended meshes
- Reset All To Default button is now available. It resets avatar and background customization and advanced tracker configuration
- fixed issue with Pose Avatar: pursed lips weren't working
- fixed Export as a Movie crash
- added new features to Community Avatars and Props import script:
- creating generic props (available for all avatars)
- multiple skins for avatars and both dedicated and generic props
- creating configuration file that permits setting values for various avatar parameters
- support for adding transparency in shaders (alpha blending or alpha test)
- updated Community Avatars and Props documentation
- added exit error message for limited capability video adapters that do not support textures that are not power of two.
- added properties to Export as a Movie, a customization dialog pops when trying to export:
- FaceRig performance replay file used as data for exported movie
- Resolution : changes the application resolution to desired one, then changes it back
- Frame Rate (24/30/40/60 fps)
- Video Quality : refers to bitrate value (low, medium, high)
- Constant BitRate (CBR check) and Variable BitRate (VBR check)
- added HUD notification that shows where screenshots, replays and exported movies are saved
The 0.77b build, currently on "nextversion" branch (has all the goodies listed above) will be wide-scale deployed on the main branch towards the end of the week.
In the mean-time, if you want to test it ahead of time follow these steps:
1. Open Steam Client. Go to Library -> Software
2. Right mouse click on FaceRig -> Properties
3. Go to BETAS tab, click in the drop down, select the beta you would like to test ( "nextversion" in this case).
4. Close window
