Hello Awesome Folks!
The 0.72b (build 284) from the "nextversion" branch has just been wide-scale deployed on the default branch a bit earlier, and then a new build 0.74b (build 292) has been uploaded to the "nextversion" branch.
Here is its changelog for 0.72b (build 284) (if you didn't read it in the previous announcement)
* added Export As Movie feature. Export as Movie takes a .rpl (Pre-recorded FaceRig Performance File) and transforms it into a .webm video file (can be played with VLC and other video players).
* added auto-blink feature in Avatar Customization Dialog > Special Actions tab
* The FaceRig logo can now be hidden, General Options Dialog > Preferences tab
* added "Props Adv" tab in the Avatar Customization dialog. Props here can be attached freely to any bone in the avatar skeleton. A known bug: If you do not select a bone before applying the prop, the program will crash. This will be fixed in the next iterations.
Note: If you are experiencing crashes when attempting to export a movie try reinstalling webmd codecs.
" ...SteamApps\common\FaceRig\Bin\prerequisites\install_webmdshow.exe" . This will also be fixed in future updates.
[Edit] 23'rd of September Change log for 0.74b (build 292) now on the official branch:
- added Alya Oktoberfest avatar
- added KaiserKitty avatar
- added Oktoberfest background
- mouse-driven pupeteering input for position and rotations now gets recorded in the RPL files.
- added alternate webcam feed frame grabber. Launching FaceRig from Steam will prompt with a choice, Launch FaceRig (which uses the original frame grabber) and Launch FaceRig with alternate frame grabber which uses a custom made in-house grabber. All of the users who are experiencing issues with FaceRig related to webcams, capturing devices, capturing software or software that emulates a video source using a smartphone camera (like iWebcamera), are advised to use the alternate frame grabber and see if their issues persists.
- added first iteration of the auto-save feature. In General Options > Preference tab you will find:
- Default Avatar / Makeup / Background
- Screenshot Folder
- Hide Logo check
- Autosave check. The Autosave check refers to saving and auto-loading changes to avatars and backgrounds from run to run, and when changing avatars/backgrounds. Note that changes to Avatar are made per Makeup.
- all toggled and activated features on FaceRig GUI are also saved: tracking, lipsync, sound loopback, hide interface, PnP mode, broadcast and look at camera.
- solved a crash when changing resolutions
- added Smoothing Factor slider for head tracking. This is useful for those that experience avatar head shakiness
- added no sound detected notification if the lipsync is activated and no sound feed is detected for three seconds
- updated Community Avatars and Props documentation
- the script that prepares the community avatars for FaceRig now sets the FOV vertical value to 30 degrees. In the future versions we intend to load FOV values from collada.
About the facerig.com Website
The facerig.com has migrated to a new, more powerful web server.
The old sluggish-ness will (hopefully) remain a thing of the past and we can start using it again more heavily (as currently we were kind of confined to the Steam Forums because of the lag :)).
New web-devs have also been brought on-board to configure the new server, fix stuff, optimize the website for mobile browsers and and implement future website-centric features.
Custom Content
We have (just) set-up a mailbox specifically meant for Custom Created Content Artist support. It is artsupport[at]holotech[dot]eu . Naturally replace the [at] with @ and [dot] with . We are writing it this way to avoid spam-bots.
Our artists have access to the mailbox, and it is hosted by Google . It also has an attached Google drive account to enable large file sharing.
Warning: Any e-mails sent to this inbox not strictly related to the creation process of custom content for FaceRig will be fed to sharks with "lazers" attached to their heads.
We wish you a superb Wednesday
The FaceRig Team
