Nextversion update, with ten free environments

Hello awesome people,

Since the previous "nextversion" update has already made its way to the "default" branch, is time for a new update to go live on the "nextversion" branch.
This one does not bring you a new executable (as we are working internally on a few delicate matters) but it does bring you new content: ten brand new (absolutely free) 360 degree environments!

The new 360 static environments are:

  • an unassuming Street,
  • a Small Harbor,
  • a Lake Shore (Evening),
  • a Terrace,
  • a Park in Autumn - (Afternoon),
  • a type of Classroom,
  • a Church (the Lava Baron hates this one),
  • a panorama of Park Guell,
  • an Abandoned Building, and
  • City lights at Night :)

Their names are not final (we do not plan to use names such as "Street" or "Terrace" for too long:) )

We've also made a short technical video to highlight the differences between the methods used to map your expressions on FaceRig avatars: Animation Atomics based Retargeting and Free-Form Retargeting. Because it is technical, it is admittedly a bit dry but we felt the need to explain what the two modes of animation retargeting are all about.
Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNnJEarqA2U

If you are ( still) wondering about how to use the "nextversion" branch here are the steps:

  • Open Steam Client. Go to Library -> Software
  • Right mouse click on FaceRig -> Properties
  • Go to BETAS tab, click in the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" drop down, select "nextversion"
  • Close window. The FaceRig program will update to the "nextversion" branch.

Have a wonderful week,
The FaceRig Team
