Hello Awesome People!
As usual, every two announcements we open by posting (for the new folks) a reminder about FaceRig being still in development. It is fun and functional, but it still has bugs (though their number decreases with each passing version). Please read this announcement (click to open) for more info and a look at the EULA before pre-ordering FaceRig.
After you have done that, please look at the minimal requirements listed right here on Steam and remember that for now FaceRig is Windows-only before committing to a purchase.
And now to the actual news!
The Awesome FaceRig Video Contest!
We have an extra simple Video Contest running on our Home page.
Just make a video about FaceRig using FaceRig, upload it on facerig.com, and if you are one of the five winners, you get free stuff (FaceRig Pro Steam codes, Facerig Classic Steam codes (to gift around) and also codes for paid avatars DLC. :) ).
Here is the link with all the info!
Or If you prefer to read the post from the Steam Discussion Forums, here it is! :)
Three of the five winners are picked by the dev team, and two are picked by the public. :)
Development news!
Code
Our programmers are hard at work correcting bugs integrating the new Visage SDK version ( that's the face tracking SDK - there are a few tricks to it so it takes a bit longer than initially thought). We trust we will have an updated version at the end of next week or around the 20'th of January.
Good progress has been made also on the new more friendly interface (built with CoherentUI from CoherentLabs), and we are also working on a wizard to assist non technical folks with the Advanced Tracking calibration but they won't be ready to be be released into the wild until mid February.
Art
Our artists are also hard at work, but right now most of their time is taken by the avatars for the Indiegogo contributors (there's a lot of back and forth / reworks going on in a few cases). After that is done, they will get back to will adding more TF2 avatars (the Scout is next on our list) a new Starbound-themed avatar (any preferences?) and a few original ones as well (We've already posted pics of Hatzi on Facebook, but he is not the only new original addition). All for free :D.
Workshop & User Created Content
We have received request of assistance with quite a few in-progress custom creations (they are really awesome and we were really excited to see them evolve:) ) ; we have offered feedback via artsupport[at]holotech[dot]eu for all of them ( if you did not get an answer on your question, just ping us again) . We are aware that the current custom creation process for a new avatar can be a bit daunting at first , that is why to assist you, we will be putting together in collada format more avatar source files (not just The Lava Baron) . Which ones would you like to see first ?
That's about it for now.
As always leave us your thoughts on the above (or on anything else for that matter) either here or on the Steam forums. (For bug reports, please please PLEASE use the Steam forums, the Bugs & Troubleshooting section :) )
We wish you an awesome weekend,
The FaceRig dev team.
