Status Update 12

Greetings Commander! :commanding:

It's been a busy week, where I've been re-organising some of the existing systems, as well as some extended forum maintenance to turn it into a more pleasant system for our players to use.

But let's get on with it, the first thing;

Development Progress;

I mentioned re-organising of existing systems, and while that is true, it only really affects our back-end process.

As of last week, the (assistant) developers are given more clarity and more narrow-minded way of thinking (previous thinking was to hop from task to task and leaving them halfway finished), which should now work better at providing a clearer and faster way of development.

Tasks are chosen in unison with the developers and myself each month during the developer's meeting.

So, for now, since this is the first week of trying it out, all I can say for certain is that a bug is being looked into by Jouster500 (our newest addition to the team) regarding Flamers being invincible and frozen when attacked from certain angles, coupled with trying to make sense and clean up some of the coding behind the rebel units.

That's all for this week on the development process, let's move on;

Community;

We've received a lot of positive feedback on the forum, but only little over 20+ people use it, so I want to once more direct attention to our forum. You can register, it's all free, you can even sign up with Steam directly which is a two-step registration way, and you can jump right into the discussions and introduce yourself! But like the game, this shares similarities; in order to gain attention it needs to be given attention first, so why not help us out by contributing to the forum discussions!

Furthermore, I want to lay a few cards on the table, and give closure to some of the suggestions that were provided in the past time;

  • The suggestion of adding grenades to the SMG units as being part of the SMG gun itself. - Yes, we've covered this, and the development team was interested in seeing it. It's been put on our private Trello for further investigation.
  • Giving Resources (scrap or points) to Allies. - We've discussed this at length, and considering points are already shared between allies on the versus gamemode, we have opted to pass by this suggestion and bin it, considering sharing resources could be abused to amass massive armies while the other turtles and provides excess supplies to their stronger ally. Sorry.
  • A better icon(!!). - This was a short discussion. We've decided that a new icon will be made to replace the current badly visible wrench.
  • Not so much as a suggestion, but it was still brought up; City 16. - Yes, we're aware that you want the new map, and we've directed that at Pandango, who has assured us he will start working on it again now that the is done with the CSGO tournament (We were rooting for him and his team, but they missed a deadline. Sad day!)
  • Interior Combat has been discussed after positive replies from the Community. - We've analysed this suggestion, but are unable to come up with a conclusive answer whether or not this will make it into the game. The older system that allowed this to be utilised has been binned. We will look at this more in-depth at some point.
  • Hero Units. - Yes, once more, it's been discussed. We've agreed that some units can make an appearance, under which mostly as a supporting character in the campaign we will be making sometime. So perhaps Alyx will greet you at some point in one of the mission! ( ;) )
  • Campaigns. - Tying directly in with the point mentioned above, we have taken great care to look at it, but seeing our current lack of Assistant Mappers, it is harder to realise this. None the less, JJ has committed to turn over some existing MP maps for SP usage.

As final note, we want to congratulate Rick Guyface on his promotion to Steam Hub Administrator, and we hope he'll stay with us for a long while longer. :)

With best,
Songbird & Team.
