Controls Test 2

Good evening everyone,

We made a couple of changes to the controls based upon your suggestions and ideas.

Changes:

- when you start attacking, the character will automatically switch to the walk mode and will return in the run mode when you stop attacking.

- in the run mode, pressing Shift, will make the character switch to the walk mode and turn his sight in the position of the cursor. For example if you need to look back fast while running just move the cursor behind the character’s back and press Shift. He will turn back but will keep moving in the same direction. Personally I find this as the most convenient way of playing.

- Freelook mode. In this mode the camera follows the cursor and rotates around the character as if you had the RMB pressed. To activate this mode press X.

In my opinion, this mode is not as good as it may sound, and requires some work. Mainly because interaction with objects happens only when the cursor is above an object ( a door for instance) and when you move the cursor the camera moves along with it, all together it feels hectic . We’ve tried many different ways of locking the camera, position it behind the character, make rotation slower, faster and tons of other different things. The only way, we think, would work with this mode, if we get rid of the cursor completely and make a lock-on system.

As always we are looking forward to hearing your opinion.

Thank you,
