Update #13 - New Time System & HQ Interaction - Oct 10, 2014

We have a very interesting update this week! First we have a new programmer in our team, my good friend Andrew Jeremy offered to help me with the game's technical development. Andrew actually has been in our team since the beginning as our sound & music guy, he created all the music in our game. Other than being an awesome music composer, he is also an awesome programmer! With his help, we managed to speed up the game's development process.

NEW TIME SYSTEM
Which brings us to this part. With help from Andrew, we managed to change the game's "End Day" system into a "Time-based" system. The reason behind this major change is that I noticed from various Let's Play videos that the End Day system was not very clear and confusing. People often do not realize that they have to press the "End Day" button in order to progress, or sometimes presses the button by accident causing them to lose resources. We hope that this new time system will give you, players, a better gameplay experience.

With this new system, a new day in the game will start at 6AM (in-game time) and ends at 6PM (also in-game duh!). Allowing you to assign survivors to do multiple missions and research projects during a day.

This new time system also opens a lot of new possibilities. For example, we could have roaming hordes of zombies or bands of bandits that could move in the map and attack your base. That is just one example, imagine the possibilities! Let me know if you have ideas and suggestions, we would love to hear what you think!

INTERACTIVE BASE CAMPS
We have also reworked the UI when you are in your HQ/base camp. You can now interact with objects in your HQ/base camp, instead of having a set of buttons at the bottom of your screen. We believe that this is better and more intuitive.

NEW WORKSHOP SYSTEM
The new time system also opened a new door. We can now make researching and crafting more interesting. Instead of only having a progress bar, you can now see the survivors working and adding points to a project.

OTHER UPDATES
Our update doesn't stop there! We've also made a lot of bug fixes and tweaks.

  • Survivor Shooting Bug - Delay bug in shooting when using automatic weapons is now fixed.
  • Panic Animation Bug - Sometimes you find survivors showing the walk animation while standing still, this bug is now fixed.
  • Sound Channel Crash - The game will no longer crash if it loses the sound channel.
  • Code Tweaks - Performance improvements.

Thank you for being patient with us and the game's development.
I'll see you again in 2 weeks with more updates!
