Although Firaxis Games XCOM: Enemy Unknown was praised for recapturing the essence of the series 1994 original, it was notoriously difficult to mod. This made the quality, ingenuity and depth found in the seminal Long War modification all the more impressive, but also made Firaxis determined to open its doors to modders in its future games.
XCOM 2 did exactly that and has seen since thousands of weird and wonderful mods breach its turn-based, sci-fi-inspired bounds. Team Dragonpunk is one such group that's taken advantage of this accessibility, having created both an XCOM 2 modding toolset and Dragonpunk: Goblin Bazaar a mod that launches an intel market with custom UI, art, and voice acting.
The team s latest mod plans to add co-op to XCOM 2, which it says is on track to coincide with the game's console launch next month. The latest video update demos the mod in the character selection screen and looks pretty neat:
Like Long War Studio, Team Dragonpunk has worked alongside some of the Firaxis team while crafting their mods, and has seen developers from Bungie, Sony, and Bethesda sign up including Jonah Lobe, the creator of Skyrim s dragons Dragonpunk s Daniel Connery tells us. The above video is part one of a series, therefore I m really looking forward to seeing the co-op mode out on the battlefield.
