Today's AArcade update brings a significant improvement to how you interact with AArcade!
In addition to the Free-Look-Mode that we are used to when walking around our arcades, today's update brings us Free-Mouse-Mode, which freezes our camera in-place and allows us to freely move our mouse to click on stuff.
AArcade's Main Menu has been revamped to take full advantage of Free-Mouse-Mode. It now feels a lot like your Windows task bar, but lists all of your in-game tasks instead.
Also noteworthy in this update is the ability for AArcade to display your actual Windows task bar while in Free-Mouse-Mode, making it easy to see what you have open both inside of AArcade & in Windows itself.
And finally, this update adds a "YouTube End Behavior" option to the Settings menu that lets you choose what happens when a YouTube video ends. Most notably, you can set it to "Play Next Nearby Video", which essential turns every YouTube video in your arcade into a geographically sorted playlist.
Thanks everybody for your patients as AArcade evolves! If you experience any annoyances related to the UI changes in this update, please let me know about them in the AArcade Discord (https://discord.gg/Nshzn2q) or on my personal Twitch stream (http://www.twitch.tv/AnarchyArcade). Enjoy your gaming!
AArcade: Source
- Added Free-Mouse-Mode (replaced the old Main Menu.)
- Improved Free-Look-Mode.
- Fixed task thumbnails in the Task Menu.
- Fixed loading maps from the Worlds tab of the Play menu.
- Changed HUD notifications to be OFF by default.
- Renamed the Options menu to the Settings menu (to parody Windows.)
- Added "YouTube End Behavior" option to the UI tab of the Settings menu.
- Added "Show Windows Task Bar" option to the UI tab of the Settings menu.
- Improved object glows to be more distinguishable.
- Screen mirrors now show the most recently "focused" in-game task on them.
- Holding right-mouse sends mouse input to any active in-game screen you are looking at. Holding right-mouse while not looking at an active in-game screen will toggle you in/out of Free-Mouse-Mode/Free-Look-Mode while you hold it down.
NOTE
If you have your regular Windows task bar positioned somewhere other than the bottom of your screen, you'll want to turn off "Show Windows Task Bar" in AArcade's options until I add a way for you to also re-position IT as well.
NOTE 2
A hotfix for this update was pushed at 6:16am Pacific time to allow the new Main Menu to work even when no map is loaded.
