THE NEW BIG DEMO UPDATE IS LIVE! ⚒️
Today we’re releasing an update for the demo version of Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge! This is a HUGE improvement for us, with highly requested features, new content, and quality-of-life improvements.
Finally, the forge is starting to look like professional dwarven machinery! We also have a new sharpening minigame that will put your smithing skills to the test! 💪
We can’t wait to hear what you think about the new stuff! If you can’t wait anymore, go ahead and download the update! And if you’re a little more patient, below is more info about the improvements ;)
Save system
We know a lot of you have been waiting for this… And here you go! You can now save your progress and jump back into your forge whenever you like without losing your hard work.
Whetstone & weapon sharpening
This is a brand-new, risk-reward-based system. You have to commit some of your resources to access the sharpening minigame. If you succeed, your weapon becomes stronger. At the same time, failure damages it, makes it weaker, and loses both your time and precious supplies. No risk, no fun, right?
New weapons & missions
Simple as that, we’re adding more content to the game. You’ll be able to forge new weapons (swords and axes) and embark on 7+ new quests! Below you can see some examples (some of these are already in the game; other will be added in the future).
Dwarven forge makeover
We want the game to resemble a deeper dwarven aesthetic, and the new look of the forge is our starting point for that. How do you like the change?
Reworked combat flow
We’re reimagining the combat system for better readability. The mechanics & rules stay unchanged, but the new semi-turn-based presentation makes battles easier to follow. There’s less clutter, and knowing what’s actually going on is easier.
Weapon forging improvement
While it’s hard to pinpoint the exact changes, forging weapons should now feel more intuitive, responsive, and fun in general. Try yourselves!
More polish
And for the gamedev’s bread and butter, we’ve also squashed bugs, tuned mechanics, and made minor enhancements across the board.
Sneak peeks from the future
Apart from the things that go live with today’s update, we have tons of plans for the game’s future. While we explained that in detail in our latest Steam post, we have some new sneak peeks for you:
That wraps up the update!
Thank you for all your feedback and the warm reception of the demo! We’re excited for you to dive into these changes and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Keep crafting, sharpening, and battling your way to greatness!
