Dragon of the Week - Bloody Thorn

Bloody Thorn is one of very few remaining bloodsucking dragons. The creatures of this sub-species look the same as other dragons; however, thanks to their reddish spots, which harbour thinner scales that reveal the blood flowing underneath them, they are easily recognisable. Due to this species’ blood patterns, younger Osirans often fear the Draco Vampires, as they are called in vernacular.

However, they are completely harmless as they mainly concentrate on other dragons or wild animals to quench their thirst for blood. When feeding, they take care that no being is seriously harmed in the process to not endanger their health or even life. In order to ensure a secure way of feeding, both the teeth and the claws have small cavities which excrete a weak narcotic when the dragons are hungry.

It happens very rarely that Osirans are bitten as their blood doesn’t match the bloodsucking dragons’ taste.
