Patch Notes for Version 0.96
It’s patch time! Today’s patch focuses on polishing Infinity Wars, and major bug-fixing. For our players, we have a sexy new campaign screen, new purchasable battlefields, a much more robust system of reconnecting to an interrupted connection, the removal of Slow as a keyword, and lots of small bug fixes.
New Campaign Screen
After reviewing our current campaign experience, we’ve decided to go through them and revamp the experience. From now on, we’ll be releasing continual updates to the campaign, rolling out a new faction’s campaign on a regular basis. The new campaigns have been designed to be much more interesting, both in gameplay and story. With this patch, we’re also releasing a completely new campaign screen. Mere patch notes can’t describe how it looks, play the game to see!
New Purchasable Battlefields
One of the most interesting items players can buy at the in-game store are default battlefield replacements, but historically the only options for players were two battlefields that didn’t particularly have any sort of theme that interested players. At Lightmare Studios we’re always looking for ways to support ourselves as a company with items that don’t affect gameplay, and reduce our dependance on card sales. With this in mind, we’ve created a new purchasable battlefield for each faction, so you can represent your favourite faction.
No More Slow
While reviewing the gameplay of Infinity Wars, we decided that ‘Slow’ was both unitunitive and un-fun to play with. While it was originally designed to provide a zombie-like drawback to balance out many Sleeper cards, instead we’ve found that it merely makes the cards worse than players evaluate a card to be, and confuses players when its effect happens. We’ve removed Slow from the game entirely, and balanced around its removal instead. We will be watching closely the balance of Infect cards, a while we expect a short resurgence of Sleeper decks from players, we think it will still be balanced. If any cards do turn out to be too overpowered without Slow holding it back, we’ll be ready to jump in and set things right.
The Death of Endless Turn (?)
The dreaded ‘endless turn’ bug has been one that has been souring player experience for quite a while, and we’ve been dedicating a lot of resources to making sure it’s been defeated. The endless turn bug is caused by losing connection to the game hosting servers, however momentarily. We’ve created a system where players will now reconnect automatically if they lose connection, and hopefully games will now go much more smoothly, and the era of the Endless Turn bug will recede into myth, a dark time beta testers speak of in hushed tones. (Update: it seems the bug is down, but refuses to die. Any bug reports you send us if you get the error will help us greatly. Thank you for your help.)
