Midnight Monitor is now Available!

You can find the game available for sale on its store page here!

The game is 20% off for the launch period so don't dally!

Firstly, Thank you

To everybody whom has supported me up to this point in getting Midnight Monitor into a polished and releasable state - Thank you. For your support and for driving me to continue when things got tough. You helped push me through and Midnight Monitor is here to show for it now. I hope that everyone can be just as excited playing it as I was making it.

Please feel free to discuss the game on the official Discord here: https://discord.gg/yNMpcTtA
Or drop me an email with any feedback you might have here: [email protected]

What can I expect from Midnight Monitor's launch version?

Midnight Monitor is releasing in a completely playable state, with its Modern House level. The Modern House level contains 8 rooms, almost all filled with 20 - 40 anomalous objects that can vary wildly from Objects moving, to intruders breaking in and watching your television, and much more.

The secret sauce to this game is that most objects can be affected by multiple anomaly types. Maybe that cup moved in the last night, but this time it might Duplicate itself, or change colour, or grow or shrink or... You get the idea. This means that each playthrough of Midnight Monitor is almost entirely unique 100% of the time.

When you've memorised the layouts of each room, you might opt to play "Dark Mode", a version of the house with every light removed except for your trusty flashlight. This mode is creepy and completely changes the feel of the game. Give it a try! Or you might want to give Black & White mode a look - This is a more classic feeling version of the game that better aligns with the pioneers of this game genre.

Finally there is Hard Mode - This option makes the game drastically harder, doubles anomaly spawn rates and reduces the number of anomalies that can be active before causing a Game Over 😱 Good luck!

The game also supports an option called "Curated Anomalies":

Curated Anomalies is designed to make sure that you get a good representation of each anomaly type per game - This means that you are much more likely to see Presence Anomalies, Corpses, and other rare anomaly types. This mode comes highly recommended!

What's new for launch?

The last few weeks have seen me add and complete the Garden and Basement areas each with their own spooky anomalies, but I'm not done with them yet! Expect there to be more anomalies and refinements to each area as development of Midnight Monitor continues. I posted an initial showing of these areas here if you want to see some extra screenshots: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2551780/view/3658665545034692293

I am always adding features and refinements to Midnight Monitor; in the last week alone I have added 37 Achievements that can be unlocked in the game! These range from reporting anomalies, losing the game, winning in each of the game modes and more.

Here are 4 of my favourite Achievement icons - Each one earned for missing more and more anomalies at the end of each night:

The game also supports both Steam Stats and Cloud saving too! So no matter where you go, you will always have access to both your in-game stats and your Achievement Progress. More Achievements are planned as the game increases in scope!

What's next?

I am also continuing to work on "Neighbourhood Watch". This map plans to be a neighbourhood full of houses and full of exciting new game mechanics! The game currently includes a demo house from the Neighbourhood Watch map for demonstration purposes - The map itself does not currently have any anomalies, but check it out and let me know what you think!

I am also going to begin working on optimising the game further - Due to the way the lighting in Midnight Monitor works (using completely realtime lights in most cases to facilitate Dark Mode), it can be pretty heavy at times. The game currently runs on Steam Deck but uses more power than it should - This is being worked on as I continue to home my skills as a "Pretty Good Game Dev™️"

On top of this Neighbourhood Watch will have its own unique style separate from the Modern House, with new menus, new looks, new sounds, etc... Keep your eyes peeled for further updates!

What can I do to help Midnight Monitor's development?

As Midnight Monitor is an Early Access game from a solo developer, getting feedback from the community at this stage is going to be absolutely vital to make it the best game that it can be, but also to make it something that both I and the community can be really proud of.

If you are able to stream or record your gameplay on Twitch or YouTube to share with your audiences, I fully support and encourage that you do so! The game uses entirely free, royalty free sound effects and music so you do not need to worry about any copyright issues - Doing this will allow the game to reach a wider audience and will be a huge benefit to its development and my ability to pour more resources into Midnight Monitor.

There is currently a Feedback section for Midnight Monitor open on the Discussion forums:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/2551780/discussions/0/3825299103409816236/

I will also be on hand on the official Discord to take feedback, suggestions and to offer any support for the game:
https://discord.gg/yNMpcTtA

Finally if you want to leave any feedback by email, you can also do so by emailing [email protected]

For anyone interested in further supporting development of the game, I will open up some additional funding options in the coming weeks - These are completely optional and will not affect any in-game features.

Once again, thank you

I know I've said that already but I cannot overstate how important your ongoing support is. Creating Midnight Monitor has been a humbling experience and I am incredibly proud of what I have created - I hope that it can grow to become 10x bigger than it is even today with all of your help and support.

Enjoy Midnight Monitor!
