On Steam, we’ll be launching Masks of the Void: Origins very soon, and we’re thrilled to share its content, the behind-the-scenes details of how we built it, and some sneak peek images revealing just a fraction of the work that went into it.
We’re also preparing a ton of Making Of videos so you can dive even deeper into the process. And soon, the creators of Masks of the Void will be sharing their own gameplay experience with you!

Inside the Development Process
In our previous devlog, we shared a few details about The Void’s decoration. You might be wondering: how did we decide to represent The Void?
The answer has at least two sides — the artistic approach, and the design of the game’s narrative and mechanics. We chose shades of purple, inspired mainly by stellar nebulas, to capture that vast, force-charged space within the emptiness. We believe purple embodies power, as it’s often associated with royalty, wisdom, creativity, mystery, and magic. 💜
From the very beginning, we wanted to steer away from reddish tones so that the player wouldn’t feel an immediate, physical threat. Instead, we aimed for them to be drawn in by the warmth of soft violets, blended with cooler tones to amplify that calm before the storm feeling.
As we’ve explained before, The Void causes your world to deconstruct, decay, and slowly fade away.
That’s exactly what’s happening to Iret — The Boreal Island where she lives is the last remnant of her world, and only on her journey to The Vortex will she uncover what’s happening, how it all works… and face The Void in its entirety.
We won’t spoil anymore — play it yourself and uncover the secrets of The Void and the Masks.

And who’s the ruler of The Void? The entity itself — The Neverending Night!
As we mentioned before, with purple representing power, we also saw how it ties into spirituality, intuition, and imagination — making it the perfect match for our Neverending Night.
So… what does the Neverending Night transform? It doesn’t just feed on the raw energy of worlds — it channels this energy through the Masks, turning it into Void Energy.
And what does it do with it?
