Hear My Cult — Progress Update (New Roguelite System)
Hello, Callers.
The Cult has learned.
I've been reworking one of the biggest parts of Hear My Cult: the progression system during each run. The goal is simple—make every run feel more unique, more strategic, and more satisfying.
New Zealot Types
Your followers are no longer all the same.
As you level up, you'll now be able to unlock specialized Zealots, each changing how your army behaves.
Current archetypes include:
Ritualists: Long ranged Zealots that will attack from a distance with vile energy.
Immolators: Self-Destructing Zealots that will target a group of enemies and explode on impact.
Brutes: Slower but heavy-hitting Zealots
Summoners: They have the ability to spawn more zealots
Each brings new strengths (and weaknesses) to your cult, allowing you to build very different armies from run to run.
New Doctrines
Your cult can now embrace powerful Doctrines.
During your run you'll be able to choose doctrines that reshape your playstyle, granting unique bonuses and encouraging completely different strategies.
Some doctrines may focus on overwhelming enemies with numbers, while others reward sacrificing followers, empowering elite units, or supporting a more aggressive Prophet.
They're designed to create meaningful decisions rather than simple stat upgrades—and I'll be expanding the system with many more doctrines over time.
A More Meaningful Level-Up System
The roguelite progression has also been redesigned.
Instead of simply becoming stronger, each level now pushes you toward different strategic choices, whether that's improving your cult, expanding your army, or unlocking new powers.
The idea is that no two runs should play exactly the same.
