What’s Inside the Demo?
Discover the vast frozen lands of Unshū, where deadly storms are never far behind.
Endure the unforgiving survival experience of Whisper of the Swallows.
Play solo or in co-op with up to eight friends.
When you create a world, you’ll have four in-game days to explore, craft, survive, and try to reach the highest possible score.
You can restart and experiment as many times as you wish. Thanks to procedural generation, every attempt unfolds in a unique world.
Tips for New Wanderers
A few gentle hints for your first steps:
- Never get caught outside at night, the shadows won't let you walk away alive.
- Your starting cavern is protected by the gods. No creature can harm you inside… but the cold still can.
- Always watch the weather forecast. Snowstorms are deadly, even in full daylight.
- Carry enough materials to build a campfire and always find cover to block the wind.
- Cook your food - it warms you up and prevents sickness.
- Move carefully. Most creatures are stronger than you, especially in groups or if you’re poorly equipped.
- Craft an Axe and a Bow as early as possible.
- To pass the time, use a bed or the straw mats in your starting cave.
- Avoid carrying raw meat with you - it may attract hungry creatures.
The Challenge: Brave the Storms
Each run lasts 4 in-game days, and your final score reflects how well you adapt to the harsh lands of Unshū.
Here’s what really matters:
- Surviving multiple days in a row without dying Every fall resets your streak.
- Equipping the strongest protection you can craft Your armor progression directly boosts your score.
- Spending one night outside the initial shelter That doesn’t mean sleeping in the open (unless you want to… disappear). You’ll need to secure or upgrade another shelter
- Finding scattered Demo Fragments These hidden fragments are placed throughout the world.
- Discovering as many different items as possible Crafting, gathering, experimenting - the more variety you uncover, the stronger your score. And don’t forget: Solo or co-op up to 8 players: you all share a single score!

Thank You
Thank you for your interest in Whisper of the Swallows.
For a solo developer, it’s incredibly hard to exist and become visible.
It’s thanks to you that this project can exist. 🙏
Enjoy the demo, and may the winds be kind tonight.
