I've just finished uploading new test beta 0.9921b, which fixes issues with Big UI mode when loading some mods, as well as some minor loot table issues in the vanilla game.
Also, I'm running out of version numbers before I hit v1.0b. So I'm going to start using minor version numbers for minor changes and fixes (e.g. v0.992->0.9921, 0.9922, 0.9923, etc.). Major version numbers will be reserved for major changes (e.g. 0.993 will be new encounters, or new features).
The build is available to anyone who owns the beta at bluebottlegames.com, or on Desura and Steam. Desura (and therefore, Groupees) users can use Desura Connect to gain access here, or even get their Steam keys and try it on Steam.
To access the test build on the official site, simply visit the beta page, and click any of the download links below the usual Windows, Mac, and Linux buttons.
Steam users can access the test build by opting into the beta for it.
Updates Included in the Test Beta
Test beta 0.9921b includes the following changes:
- Added code to warn user on loading screen if item was listed in data but never defined.
- Fixed a bug that caused game to crash when starting if a mod item was listed but undefined.
- Fixed a bug that caused remapper to give mod recipe scraps wrong nGroupID, causing missing items.
- Fixed a bug that caused bows and pistols to be missing default ammo.
- Fixed a bug that caused demo Play button to be missing in new mod remapper version.
- Fixed a bug that caused forest shack hexes to start with forest as scavenge location too often.
The biggest issue here was a crash that occurred when trying to load certain mods. Mods that contained new recipes, and mods that had missing item definitions would cause the game to crash after starting a new game. I fixed the main cause of this bug, and added some error-checking to skip items that fail rather than crashing. The loading screen will also warn the user if an item appears to be missing.
Furthermore, there was missing ammo loot in the pistol and bow items, and the forest shack hex often had a forest as its starting scavenge locale, instead of buildings. These have been fixed, too.
As always, let me know what you think of the changes, and if you notice any issues with the new build!
