New Test Build 0.9937b: Spying, Visibility, and More Fixes

I've just finished uploading new test beta 0.9937b, which improves spying and visibility, and fixes issues still found in v0.9936b.

The build is available to anyone who owns the beta at bluebottlegames.com, or on Desura and Steam. Desura (and therefore, Groupees) users can use Desura Connect to gain access here, or even get their Steam keys and try it on Steam.

To access the test build on the official site, simply visit the beta page, and click any of the download links below the usual Windows, Mac, and Linux buttons.

Steam users can access the test build by opting into the beta for it.

Updates Included in the Test Beta

Test beta 0.9937b includes the following changes:

  • Added ability to spy on hexes in addition to creatures, which can be used to reveal hidden creatures before entering.
  • Changed creature detection stat to be fixed instead of varying per-turn.
  • Changed full meal benefits to have higher hydration value.
  • Fixed a bug that caused running moves left to restore during battle.
  • Fixed a bug that caused previously visible creatures to sometimes start battle invisible.
  • Fixed typos in Hatter and Looter encounters.
  • Fixed a bug that caused stacked conditions to have wrong start date in save games.
  • Fixed null pointer bug when creature's tile was null during visibility check.
  • Fixed a bug that caused King Eli to offer to talk without any talk encounter happening.
  • Removed ability to wear Blue Frog sash on face (was causing too many bugs).

One of the bigger changes here is to the visibility system. I've removed a random value from the visibility checks, so it shouldn't fluctuate quite as much. Also, I've made the "Spy" button work on hexes as well as creatures. This way, players can spend a turn spying on a hex, which may reveal hidden creatures before entering.

I also fixed a pretty major bug in the save game system that reset condition timers if they were stacked. This may have caused weirdness in timed conditions, such as diseases.

As always, let me know what you think of the changes, and if you notice any issues with the new build!
