Update #4: Let Battle Commence!

Online multiplayer comes to Talisman!

This update adds the much anticipated online multiplayer feature, along with many more fixes and features.

New Features -

  • Online Multiplayer!
  • Public and Private games. Invite option works but the person being invited must already have the game running before they accept.
  • Voice chat. Be excellent to each other! If someone isn't being excellent, press the speaker icon next to their portrait to mute them. Press your own speaker to stop others hearing you (recommended if you're munching on pretzels).
  • Online game with human/AI players mix - you can have AI players in your online game. For instance, if you create a 4-player game and start the game with only 3 slots full, the AI will occupy the last slot.
  • Timeout setting - the host of a game can choose how long each player has to make decisions. If a player does nothing before the timer runs out, they will forfeit their turn.
  • AI players will take over if human players leave or lose their network connection. There is no message to let you know when someone has left. We will add this soon.
  • Classic Rules - as with offline games, the host can switch on Classic Rules on the game setup screen and Runestones will not be used.

IMPORTANT NOTE - joining and creating games is more stable if you have just loaded the game. Please reboot the game between games if you play more than one. This will be fixed.

  • Equipping Runestones on the game setup screen - for both online and offline games, players can change which Runestones are being used by characters on the setup screen. Each character has three Runestone slots next to their character card. Click the slots to edit Runestones for your character and AI players too.

Bug Fixes and Tweaks -

Big change to spell functionality - After much feedback from you guys, we've changed how spells work so that countering them is more like the board game. You can now see the target of the spell before you are able to cast Counterspell. At the moment, it's a little confusing as to what's happening when a spell is being cast, but we're working on improvements.
It now works like this -
1) Player 1 casts Destruction and chooses a card on a space.
2) The other players can see the card being chosen (but not which spell is being cast, we'll fix this).
3) When Player 1 confirms the card they want to destroy, the Destruction spell card appears and players have the chance to counter it.
Let us know what you think of this new system.

Tutorials Off button - on the options screen, press the 'Turn Tutorials Off' button to switch off all tutorial text. There is no confirmation when you press this. If you want tutorial messages back, press the 'Reset Tutorial Pop-ups' button.

Talisman cards from the Talisman deck are now visually different to the Talisman cards from the Adventure deck.

Immobility tidy-up - When this is cast, you now have two options - 'Select Player' and 'Select Creature'. If cast on a player, it MUST be cast on the player whose turn it is, they will then miss their turn. If you choose 'Select Creature', you can select any creature which then cannot be attacked for that turn, by clicking the space they are on and then choosing them.

Auto-Kill button labelled - when the Auto-kill option is available, because you cannot lose the current fight, the button now says 'Auto-kill' rather than 'Continue'. This won't appear for character vs. character fights.

New message added - a reminder message appears if you have the Amulet and you're about to enter the Crown of Command space.

Encountering Bandits - rather than a left/right value selector arrow, there is now a 'Bribe' option which will pay him off.

Fixed AI characters turning back in the Inner Region when they could go to the Crown of Command.
Trading in trophies - the AI should now be better at trading in trophies, instead of turning in too many.

Have fun!
