News and updatesDrakantosClosed Beta - May 22 to 2418 May 2026·Developer post·Original post (opens in a new tab)Closed Beta - May 22 to 24Hey everyone! The wait is almost over. Our Closed Beta is coming this week and we can't wait to finally see you all playing! The Closed Beta willl run from May 22 to 24, starting at 9 AM ET on Friday. We’d also love to have you join our community on Discord: Players who received access during the previous beta will still have access and won’t need to request it again. If you haven’t joined before, you can request access through our Steam page. New invitations will be sent gradually over time. If you already have access, you’ll also be able to invite friends (up to 3), as long as you’ve been friends with them on Steam for at least 30 days. (those are Steam rules not ours) There will be four server regions available during the beta: NA, SA, EU and AS. Note: Once you select a region, you won’t be able to change it during this test. For this test, we’ll support the following languages: English, Portuguese (BR), Spanish (LATAM), Spanish (Spain), Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Polish. If you notice any incorrect words, phrases or localization issues, please report them to us! Note: Japanese and Spanish (Spain) are still not 100% translated, so you may come across some untranslated phrases. Because of the major gameplay changes, the servers are now under significantly heavier load. To help ensure stability while we scale server capacity and gradually allow more players online at the same time, we’ll be using a queue system if needed. As this is a beta test, all progress made during the test will be wiped before the full release. You can report bugs directly in-game by pressing Ctrl + R. Please try to be as specific as possible when describing the issue. We truly appreciate your patience, especially during the first day of the Beta. We’ll be gradually scaling the servers and closely monitoring the game throughout the test to keep the experience as smooth as possible. Some technical issues or bugs may still happen along the way, but our team will be working hard to resolve them quickly. While the first Beta focused mainly on PvE content and early game progression, this second test will introduce players to Drakantos’ PvP for the first time, featuring 13 maps across 3 different modes. This Beta will also include the major gameplay improvements many of you have been waiting to try, including the transition from tile based movement to fully free movement, revamped mouse controls and the shift to full action combat instead of the previous hybrid system. For players who are not interested in PvP and simply want to test the gameplay changes, the same PvE content from the previous Beta will still be available. We chose not to expand the PvE content for this test because the main goal right now is to validate the new core mechanics and PvP systems. All players will have access to 15 heroes right from the start: Liam, Marly, Zeugladius, Reya, Yura, Ojore, Thomas, Byron, Iris, Ozul, Faendar, Arryn, Orbryn, Yuki and Korz. You can see the gameplay teaser of some of them here. Because of the new movement and combat changes, many heroes may feel very different compared to the previous Beta, giving you a fresh experience even with familiar content. On top of that, we will be giving out plenty of special Beta Boxes that grant endgame Trophies, Orbs and Artifacts, allowing you to test different builds and drastically change your playstyle. Beta Boxes We have a large variety of Orbs, Artifacts and Trophies in the game, which are important items used to shape your build and expand your gameplay possibilities, but as MMORPGs are long term games, obtaining those in a weekend would be impossible, however we want you guys to try it, specially in the PvP. For this Beta, we want to test how PvP feels with players already using some of these items, while still keeping a sense of progression and discovery during the test. That’s why players will be able to obtain special Beta Boxes through PvP and PvE activities, giving you the chance to unlock different options, experiment with builds and keep finding new ways to play throughout the Beta. These boxes are exclusive to the Beta and will not exist in the game. There will be three box types: Orb Box, Artifact Box and Trophy Box. Each type can appear in different rarities, and each box lets you choose 1 item from 3 different options. ⚡Important: When opening an Orb Box, make sure you are using the hero you want to receive an Orb for, as one of the options is guaranteed to be for your current hero. We explained our vision for PvP in more detail here, if you’d like to learn more. For this Beta, we’ll be testing the Arena, which features 3 different modes. Here’s a closer look at each one: Control The objective here is to stand on the control zones. While your team is on them, you earn progress, regardless of whether enemies are there or not. The first team to fully capture all zones wins. Keep in mind that maps can have one or two control points, so you have to dominate all of them. At the top, you can see the individual progress of each point, while the bar represents the overall progress. Escort The objective here is to escort your crystal to the final point and prevent the enemy team from escorting theirs. The crystal moves when an ally is nearby and stops if an enemy is close to it. At the top, you can see the progress bar, and on the minimap you can follow the crystal route. Assault This mode is similar to a MOBA, with towers and a core. The towers share their health. Once they are destroyed, the core becomes exposed and enemies take longer to respawn. Towers prioritize minions, but will switch targets to heroes if a hero attacks another hero within their range. Without minions, the tower and the core have 80% defense. A buff appears in the middle of the map every 3:30. This buff grants 25% attack for 60 seconds. Additional Information Assault gives more rewards than Control/Escort because matches last longer, so the rewards are proportional. Play whichever you prefer. However, achievements are faster to complete in Control/Escort since matches are shorter. In Control and Escort, artifact charges are reduced by half. Pressing the mouse wheel opens the ping wheel, where you can choose a ping option. Tab opens the scoreboard. Some skills and artifacts say “up to X seconds.” When it says “up to,” it usually means the effect is reduced against Players or Bosses for balance reasons. In PvP, everyone is set to max level with maxed equipment and skills. Trophies and Artifacts are not unlocked, but they are also maximized. To see what an Artifact or Trophy does at max level, just hold TAB while hovering over it. The game is now fully action-based, meaning there’s no target system anymore. You can attack freely in any direction, and skills must be aimed with the mouse. Left click is your basic attack and right click is your special attack (you can hold it for an enhanced effect). Your character now automatically faces the mouse direction when attacking. Controller movement feels much smoother and more fluid because it allows full 360° movement, instead of being limited to 8 directions like keyboard movement. This also applies to actions like dashes, since they can be aimed in any direction. On the controller, the right analog stick controls your turning direction since there’s no mouse. You hold a direction and all attacks will go that way. Keyboard and mouse should feel easier to play overall now, while controller movement is more fluid but may take some time to get used to. You can now use basic attacks outside of their cooldown, but they work in a stamina-like way. Because of that, timing your damage around the previous 2-second interval is still the most optimal approach. Melee attacks have a bit more tolerance because they have charges. During the beta, you’ll be able to earn rewards by watching Drakantos streams on Twitch! Just watch any channel streaming in the game’s category. Check it out: Once you download the game, go to Settings > Account > Twitch. Make sure to link your Twitch account there so you can receive the rewards. Note: These items are only temporary for the Closed Beta and will be reset after the test ends. As we said before, the main focus of this Beta is the PvP and testing the new core mechanics, as they have fundamentally changed the game. Because of that, this test will be smaller than the previous one and will not be broadly advertised. We want to gather your feedback and understand how the game feels now after so many changes. We hope you all have lots of fun during the Beta! Feel free to stream or record your gameplay, and if you’d like, you can also share your best clips on our Discord. We’ll be putting together a video featuring some of your moments from the test! Thank you again for all your support! ❤️
