It's our first official Surfpunk update! It’s been a couple of weeks since the game was announced and the team has been hard at work building an awesome game that can only be described as TOTALLY TUBULAR (definitely -not- apologizing for the insufferable amount of surf lingo)! We're going to use this space to keep you in the loop on what’s new in the game, fun highlights of game development, and other cool Surfpunk updates!

🌊We put waves in our surf game!🌊
While Raiders take to the ocean with their trusty jet-powered rush boards, it really wouldn’t feel like a surf game without…waves, right? Sure, we had waves of ENEMIES before, but now we’ve got those sweet ocean swells. And hey, not only are WAVES added (and don’t they look beautiful), but there just might be a more sinister and bigger wave in the works…
How do you like the look of these? It's still a work in progress!
Speaking of sinister…
Sumi Spotlight
While you’re out there collecting Evress and epic loot, you’re gonna encounter the Sumi. They aren’t nice. They are mean, violent, and up to NO good. They are out for blood, and have a particular appetite for the sunkissed, saltwater-seasoned Raiders that haunt their shores. That’s all just a long-winded way to say they are the bad guys. The enemy. And you don’t need to feel bad about crushin’ ‘em. They deserve it.
You may have seen a bunch of Sumi swarming the hapless heroes throughout our debut trailer. But Sumi’s come in many shapes and sizes - check out this awesome CREEP that’s currently in the cooker. This is the new model for our "mortar" enemy that will lob projectiles at the raiders:
Gross. But maaaaybe it’s a little cute? Anyone? No?
To conclude our inaugural udpate, we thought it’d be fun to highlight weird and funny bugs encountered during game development. Let’s enter…

One important note before we sign off! Our first public playtest is planned for the end of August! Be on the lookout for proper dates and announcement coming soon! In the meantime, get your crew together - encourage your friends to sign up and test the game too - the more, the merrier!
