We have pushed an update to resolve the issue with the game crashing on start-up for some players after yesterday's big update.
The issue stemmed from a late minute optimization that did not play nice with some PCs (most specifically on Windows 8), we have temporarily disabled it until we test it further. Sorry for the inconvenience this caused you.
We hope you will be able to enjoy the game now and please let us know if you experience any further issues.

Minor update since this morning to new version 4.61
Minor update:
* Re-enabled optimizations that were temporarily disabled this morning
* On main menu - 'Continue Game' will now be disabled if autosave is from versions 4.54-4.58 saved games (as they are incompatible and would crash otherwise)
* On new Planet List - resources will now check if they were surveyed otherwise it will show 'survey required'
