“Dora” Mission!

Comrades, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the “Dora” Deluxe Mission is finally here! In this scenario you will get to see the most massive and terrifying weapon of World War II.

“Dora”, a super-heavy railway artillery system, struck terror into the hearts of Germany's enemies – now you can witness its combat power for yourself!

Not one, but two locomotives and two parallel sets of railway tracks were necessary to move this giant. It took two weeks to prepare “Dora” for firing, and the reload time was 20-30 minutes. The crater diameter after a shell explosion was about 10 m, and its shells were able to punch through up to 9 m of reinforced concrete. Several hundred people were needed to maintain this juggernaut – more than 2,500 if counting its security and air defense.

The gun was first used during the siege of Sevastopol.

After the battle in Crimea, “Dora” was moved to the railway station of Taizy near Leningrad. Plans were to send one more artillery system there for the shelling of the city and the naval base. Later, in September 1944, “Dora” was used in the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising.

The mission takes place around the railway station of Taizy near Leningrad. Dora was placed and ready to fire. One of the best German gunners, Georg von Küchler, was in charge of the operation. The command had no doubt about his ability to effectively utilize the firepower of “Dora”, but the Red Army offensive deprived the Germans of the opportunity to use their supergun in battle. When the blockade of Leningrad was first broken in 1943, “Dora” was quickly evacuated to the German rear to avoid its capture by Soviet troops. And that’s how the famous gun’s war on the Eastern Front came to its inglorious end.

Playing for the Germans you will have to evacuate “Dora” under heavy fire from Soviet troops.

But it’s not all that simple: the railway line is partially blocked by another train. To solve this problem you will need to repair the side track and move the obstruction there. Repair brigades will be working in difficult conditions under constant pressure from the Soviet infantry squads. Your task is to protect the workers so they can restore the track as soon as possible. Once the railway line is restored and the locomotives start pulling “Dora”, the Soviet troops will commence airstrikes.

As the Luftwaffe cannot provide support when under fire from Soviet anti-aircraft guns, it’s very important to destroy or capture them. If you succeed, you will be able to call in air support. The airstrikes are not the only difficulty you’ll encounter – the enemy Tank Destroyers and paratrooper squads will go out of their way to get their hands on “Dora”, but wise placement of your squads will allow you to reach your destination and evacuate the gun to the rear.

Fight tooth and nail and do not let the Soviet troops seize this super powerful gun! Time is of the essence, the enemy is coming!
